Libertarian Party of Colorado blog: ‘Cop shoots man either involved in a break-in, or was he trying to commit suicide?’

Posted by Severin Schneider:

Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in the Montbello neighborhood that sent one man to the hospital early today. Denver Police say the shooting happened at 51st and Fontana Court just before 4 a.m. They say the initial report was that a man was trying to harm himself. However, police say the report later changed to a man with a knife trying to force his way into a home.

Right now there is not enough information on this shooting to try and determine what happened here, but it does seem suspicious that the report changed so dramatically.

I will try and follow this case. I always find it interesting when there is a shooting by a cop, even when it is justified I think the public should be diligent about these cases, because we do not want to ever see a day when the police can shoot people without expecting to get a lot of public scrutiny.
