April Fools: Occupy Wall Street endorses Ron Paul for President

Picture posted on the front of the OWS/NYCGA website

[This was originally posted on 4/1/12 in the spirit of April Fools fun. The NYCGA/OWS truly did post the announcement at their site as an April Fools joke.]

NYCGA.net is an official website of Occupy Wall Street. It is the site for the New York City General Assembly, who make decisions on the ground for Occupy Wall Street.

The NYCGA website today has an announcement that OWS has agreed to officially endorse the Paul presidential ticket.

Well, the endorsement comes with a condition. The website added “If Paul wins the nomination he can carry the OWS endorsement only if Dr. Cornel West is accepted as Vice President.”

When you click on the part that says “Read the minutes”, you are directed to an odd website. And, when you look at the calendar you begin to wonder…

Now THAT would be an unbeatable ticket!!!!!

(A ticket that cannot exist in this reality cannot by definition be beaten in this reality)

Yeah I know it is April 1st.

No joke though, many of my real life and internet Occupier friends love Ron Paul.

A true advocate of liberty would never run with a tyrannical anti-liberty socialist.

I hope this story dupes the press, though.

@Rob Banks – I have been out of the loop of the NYC happenings for awhile. But, in October, I ran into a few Ron Paul folks at Liberty Plaza/Zuccotti Park. And, there used to be a lot of Ron Paul talk on the chat rooms. (Until people shouted down any mention of candidates.)

I know this is going to cause a split in the Occupy movement. I know of a lot of socialists, communists and left wing liberals that support occupy, and I doubt they will like this at all.

There are many libertarians who are also OWS supporters. Sothe endorsement is credible, but the condition is not.

Of course Dr.Paul would never run with a socialist.

Actually there have been Ron Paul people at occupy events including in DC. And from even lefties I’ve talked to I’d say 60 percent would vote for Paul over Romney and Obama. And 20% would vote for Paul even with all other 2rd party choices. And a few of them might vote for Johnson.
