From Howie Hawkins’ campaign website:
Howie Hawkins, the Green Party candidate for Governor, called today for the immediate release of fellow candidate Randy Credico and the dismissal of all charges.
Credico was arrested and detained over night in New York City when he began to videotape two white men aggressively stopping a Black man. The men, who were apparently plain clothes transit cops, then arrested Credico.
Americans have the constitutional right to videotape cops in public places. Such taping is critical to help reduce the problem of police violence against citizens, particularly people of color and those who politically dissent. Such as the recent videotaping of the police killing Eric Garner.
In addition the New York Police Department Patrol Guide states that “taking photographs, videotapes or tape recordings” is not cause for arrest or detention so long as the activity does not jeopardize the safety of officers or others.
Federal court rulings in Baltimore, Boston and Indianapolis have affirmed that recording officers in public places is protected by the Constitution.

Thanks to Deran for this news.
The Jew York City police are just doing what their Israeli masters have taught them to, see

Good to hear Libertarian and Green voices on behalf of this guy’s right to monitor/film the police. WOuld also be good to support this guy:

People with felony convictions should also be encouraged to monitor police as a check to malfeasance/abuse.

Does anyone have any info on which authorities we can call or email to support Randy Credico in his fight against this police abuse?
Randy is a candidate for Governor in the Democratic primary against Andrew Cuomo and Zephyr Teachout (great name for a prof. at my alma mater, Fordham Law School).
Credico is lucky he is not a young African American man or he would probably be dead for interfering with the police.
Oops, sorry about the misunderstanding on my part. I saw Howie Hawkins and I saw Credico reffered to as a Lt Gov candaite and I forgot that Jones is the GP’s LG candidate.
Free all political prisoners!
The cops are out of control….

…and in NYC, and LA, and everywhere else.
Only slightly related, but some commentary was made in an article I read about how, like the cops, the family courts try to censor reporting of their abuses too:

Randy is a good friend of many of us.
I wish him much success in his fight against the State.
I did overhear him mentioning the LP as well, even though stating why he is running in the Democratic Party primary; he thinks the turnout will be low.
I ran into Randy at a festival in Woodstock, New York a couple weeks ago. Although I didn’t speak to him, I saw how he campaigned and was pretty impressed. He did an interesting impression of Ronald Reagan. Hope he gets out soon.
Randy was the Libertarian Party candidate for US Senator (he lost to Schumer) four years ago.
He was also nominated by short-lived Anti-Prohibition Party.
Randy and I were co-plaintiffs in US District Court, EDNY, in Credico v. NY Board of Elections, in which we successfully nullified a portion of the New York Election Law which prohibitted a candidate from simultaneously appearing on the lines of two independent bodies, even though party candidates may appear on multiple lines.
All of these matters and more have been covered by IPR in the past.
