Jill Stein calls for a new investigation into 9/11 attacks

saveworld

Jill Stein, the Green Party candidate for president, has called for a new investigation into the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001 on the eve of the 15-year anniversary. Stein released the following statement on her website:

On the 15th Anniversary, We Need to Learn the Full Story of 9/11 and to End the Catastrophic Wars on Terror That Followed

Fifteen years ago the world reacted in horror as more than 3,000 individuals were murdered. We honor those victims, and the heroic first responders of that day.

The same day the Green Party issued a statement calling for this act of terrorism to be treated as a crime against humanity and for the culprits to be criminally prosecuted. We pleaded, “Do not turn our cries of grief into a cry for war.” Our national leaders and the corporate media ignored us.

The Stein/Baraka campaign stands for truth and transparency in politics. Since September 11 of 2001, secrecy and lies, endless war, torture, and a frightening “surveillance state” have become the new normal. On the 15th anniversary of 9/11, it is past time for sober reflection and public discourse about this tragedy.

We now know with absolute certainty that fraudulent claims of “weapons of mass destruction” and of links between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda were used as pretexts to invade Iraq. That illegal and immoral war cost the lives of over 4,000 US soldiers and maimed and wounded almost a million more. In Iraq, another million people were killed.

Fifteen years later, American troops are still in Iraq and Afghanistan. The pretext of “humanitarian relief” was used to invade and devastate Libya. And the escalating violence has intensified the Syrian civil war into a disaster of the highest order. The Obama administration has expanded a drone war into Pakistan, Yemen and other countries. Hundreds of thousands of people—many of them children—have died as a result of the invasions. Millions more have become refugees.

The September 11 attacks were used to launch a war against terrorism, yet terrorism has soared worldwide. This war has been used as an excuse to squash civil liberties and to scapegoat Muslims and other immigrants.

This year the Islamic celebration of Eid al-Adha coincides with the anniversary of the tragic events of September 11. We join with people of all faiths and beliefs in standing with our Muslim friends and neighbors and demand an end to Islamaphobia in public discourse.

It is time to end these failed wars and to heed the Green Party’s initial call to build a new world based on peace and justice.

The families and friends of those who were murdered on 9/11 deserve justice. They also deserve to know the truth.

Led by the families of those who died on 9/11, the American people wanted—and deserved—a comprehensive and independent inquiry into the attacks. The Bush administration initially said an inquiry was unnecessary, claiming that the perpetrators had been identified and their methods and motives were clear.

It is well known that the 9/11 Commission produced a report containing so many omissions and distortions that Harper’s Magazinedescribed it as “whitewash as public service”—a document that “defrauds the nation.” The co-chairs of the 9/11 Commission wrote a book just two years after the final commission report, saying, “We were set up to fail.” The 9/11 Commission was not given enough money, time, or access to relevant classified information.

The Stein/Baraka campaign believes a new inquiry is necessary. {emphasis added – a screenshot of this part was circulating widely on Twitter-KL}

Under our administration a new inquiry would have access to the considerable body of responsible independent research that has emerged over the last 15 years. We would create an independent 9/11 Commission, not one dominated by members with an interest in protecting the reputation and careers of foreign affairs and intelligence communities.

The US government has finally released the long-classified 28 pages from the 2002 Congressional Report, which have raised many questions about Saudi intelligence as well as other intelligence agencies and their relationship to 9/11.

It’s time for a full accounting of what happened, and an end to the misguided post-9/11 wars that are actually making us less safe, not more safe.

Jill Stein

Stein is following in the footsteps of her predecessor, 2008 Green Party candidate Cynthia McKinney, who likewise questioned the government-sanctioned official version of what happened on 9/11 at the World Trade Center and who the culprits were. That election year, Constitution Party candidate Chuck Baldwin also voiced his support for the 9/11 Truth movement’s call for a new, independent investigation.

Jesse Ventura is flawed from a libertarian perspective (such as his support for minimum wage laws), but even so, I’d say that Ventura would have been a better, and more libertarian, choice for Vice President than Bill Weld, and for that matter, given Johnson’s actions & statements over the course of his presidential campaigns, he’d have been a better choice for President than Gary Johnson.

Ventura certainly would NOT be the perfect candidate, but since we have two highly flawed candidates run for President and Vice President right now on the Libertarian ticket, perfection, or even something in the ballpark of that, has already been thrown out the window.

How does asking questions about what really happened on 9/11, and pointing out holes in the official government story that are so big that you could fly a Boeing 747 through them, make a person a s scumbag? If anything, I’d say that finding out what really happened that day is actually honoring all of the innocent people who died that day, and in the aftermath (like the rescue workers who got sick because of breathing in the dust) of 9/11.

Tony comes off as one of those government worshippers who gets offended by anyone questioning what their “god” the state says is true.

I am not and never been a truth. I am far too familiar with real conspiracies and how they fail, as well as the manipulation of the facts. FDR had every intention getting the US into a war with Japan. Moving the base of the Pacific fleet from San Pedro to Pearl Harbor made those intentions clear. The failure to provide translations of the actual messages — after the cracking of the Japanese codes — was due to a lack of translators even though there were plenty of Japanese teachers who could have traced the movements and intentions of the Japanese fleet. Similarly, perhaps, there were reasons why the U. S. government failed to foil the destruction of 9/11 when it had all the information needed to prevent it. It is sufficiently detailed by a section titled “Intelligence before the attacks” in the thoroughly vetted Wikipedia article on the 9/11 attacks. My moment of enlightenment came studying the video of Bush reading to a class of children when he was brought the news. It was not unexpected, but he had no idea that it would be that bad. Mission accomplished. But whose purposes were and are being served?

“The fact that established engineering safety margins have been significantly reduced in high-rise construction to save on cost, which would engender fear among the public. The fact that the twin-towers were never designed to withstand an airplane strike as claimed by PR men in the late 60s (being built in the slide-rule era of construction, such calculations were impossible). The fact that building 7 collapsed because faulty building design left it so vulnerable to collapse from minor damage that the design amounts to engineering malpractice.”

Has this been addressed by the engineering community? Hopefully, in the fifteen years they have figured why Building 7 collapsed after the fires having been mostly out for a while, and have new codes in effect. I also hope they’ve also contacted every building owner of similar buildings and asked that appropriate upgrades be made so it won’t happen again.

    *
Of course it was no ACCIDENT. It was a terrorist attack under Bin Laden’s leadership, and there is a mountain of evidence that clearly demonstrates that fact.

There is, however, absolutely NO evidence whatsoever that points to any involvement by any member of the government in the planning or execution of the attack, nor is there any evidence whatsoever to support any of the ridiculous claims made by the Truthers regarding airplanes not being hijacked, passengers not being killed, explosives in any of the buildings or any of the other delusional, paranoid fantasies the Truthers promote.

Truthers represent a tiny fraction of one percent of the public who are in need of sympathy and intervention to help them form some kind of relationship with reality.

    *
Yes, there are things to investigate:

The involvement of the government in hiding the involvement of some members of the Saudi government in financing terror groups. But this has more to do with oil diplomacy, long-term financial / political arrangements between the US and the Saudis, the influence the Saudis have over the FED and western financial markets, pumping Saudi oil to reduce the income of other oil-dependent nations being targeted by the US etc.

The fact that established engineering safety margins have been significantly reduced in high-rise construction to save on cost, which would engender fear among the public. The fact that the twin-towers were never designed to withstand an airplane strike as claimed by PR men in the late 60s (being built in the slide-rule era of construction, such calculations were impossible). The fact that building 7 collapsed because faulty building design left it so vulnerable to collapse from minor damage that the design amounts to engineering malpractice.

Dear Lord. Inside job nonsense. Any candidate who screams that gets an instant ‘deletion’ from list of passable candidates

In fairness to Jill Stein, I do not believe she ever suggested it being an inside job. It just says that due to potential problems with the first investigation, there should be another just to be sure. There are things that could be uncovered outside of it being an “inside job” (a claim that I agree is silly and I am saddened to see so many people here assert it as what definitely happened; not even just as a possibility, but that it was absolutely the case).

Though even if we assume that it was an inside job or at least that the investigation would unearth something important, it would behoove her to state somewhere that despite wanting the investigation, she did not believe it was an inside job. This would still satisfy the kooks who think it is an inside job (as it would still be an investigation, that, according to them, would spill the truth of the government being behind it–and of course when it didn’t they’d just cry conspiracy again) while also not driving away all of the people who think the “inside job” claim was nonsense, i.e. most people.

The state is the conspiracy without the conspiracy. The question of 9-11 as an inside job is a red herring to the fact the state took full advantage of the event, regardless. Whether the thing was a Bush-Cheney-Saudi intel job or simply an inevitable consequence of the US flaming wahhabi islam as a soviet containment policy, the end result is the same . The government did not just “take advantage” of 9/11, there were people in the government who were actively involved in carrying it out. This does not mean that everyone in the government was in on it, I mean just a few key people in a few key places. Also, 9/11 was not just a Bush-Cheney-.Saudi inside job, it was a US government neo-con/military-industrial-complex/intelligence agency/ISRAELI/ZIONIST,/Saudi inside job. I believe that the Saudis were involved, but they were minor players.

“Conspiracy without the conspiracy means the system is not plagued by bad actors. The system itself is a bad actor.”

Yes, the system is a bad actor, but make no mistake about it, there is a mountain of evidence that indicates that 9/11 did not just happen by accident, as in the government did not just “screw up” and take advantage of the situation. There were people within the US government who were actively involved in staging the attack.

    Andy,
Could you pick one (1) reason why another government investigation would be helpful?

(Again, one, not 26, not 5, not a video, just a simple statement of why)”

Because the first one was a sham. There was no way we were going to get a real 9/11 investigation since George W. Bush was in the White House, and since people close to Bush were involved in staging the attack. We will not get a real 9/11 investigation as long as people connected with the ruling establishment (any mainstream Republican or Democrat, particularly if they are connected with the CFR, Bilderberg Group, etc…) hold high level offices where they can block a real investigation from taking place.

If Ms. Stein were elected President (an unlikely scenario I know), I believe that we’d finally have a real shot at re-opening the 9/11 investigation and going after the real perpetrators with criminal charges. There are a lot of issues where I do not agree with Ms. Stein, but I do agree with her on a few things, and this is one of the areas where I agree with her.

I’d like to see a 9/11 Treason and Mass Murder trial.

    What would this accomplish?

    1) I think that there is enough evidence to convict the real guilty parties, so we’d finally have some justice.

    2) It would show the American people just how evil people in their own government are, which would be a reality check for a lot of people. This could cause a lot of people to not trust the government (even more so than now) and to not automatically rush off to war and sacrifice their freedoms for the promise of safety just because people in government said to do it. Lots of people would become educated about false flag attacks, and be more likely to spot them in the future, which means that people in government will be less likely to try to pull them off.

    3) This could lead to a withdrawal of US military forces from the middle east, and from other countries as well, and a more peaceful foreign policy.

    4) This could also lead to the repeal of the Patriot Act, the TSA, and the DHS, as well as other domestic police state agencies and policies that were passed in the aftermath of 9/11.

    5) There is a mountain of evidence that points to Israeli involvement in carrying out the 9/11 attack. This would lead to Israel losing their welfare check s from the US government, and it could bring into question all foreign aid programs.

    6) The political establishment and their cronies in the mainstream media have been covering up 9/11 for a long time now. If the truth ever comes out to everyone it could lead to the political establishment losing power, and to the mainstream media losing credibility among the general public.

A new 9/11 investigation could actually lead to the downfall of the current corrupt US government and lead to a new era of freedom and prosperity.

I cringe and try to avoid news shows during the “remembrance” of 9/11. I was not around for Pearl Harbor. Did we do the same thing? Every year demanding a new investigation and rehashing the same photos over and over again?

Of course we wouldn’t for Pearl Harbor. It was clearly a plan devised by the Japanese Emperor and his generals. That we were surprised while our fleet was mostly all harbored was a fluke right? Because we still do that don’t we? (hint: the answer to that question is NO. We don’t and rarely ever did AFAIK). We needed Pearl Harbor in order to enter WWII, there was no other way.

First responders to the twin towers are still getting cancers because our EPA failed them, our government failed them. First responders to minor fires where chemicals and other manner or crap are stored suffer cancer too. Just not on as grand as a scale because let’s face it, this was a grand scale.

My grandfather, and many of his buddies, died from lung cancer and other nasty related diseases from working at the shipyards in Oakland. Back then we didn’t know asbestos was bad.

We can muse, ruminate, argue, theorize and blame all we want. It does not bring our citizens back. It does not cure the thousands who suffered from the debris that day. It won’t mend our broken heart. Truth is a funny thing and has many sides.

In a sense, it was an inside job in that we had a Lazy f**cktard President who brushed off his security briefings so he could be filmed cutting wood on his cattle-less, horseless ranch. His family was tight BFFs with the Saudi Royal Family of which there are many, many of, binLaden included. Most of the hijackers were Saudi nationals. Bush made sure that all the Saudi Royal Family were long gone from American soil before the dust settled even though all planes were grounded.

Obama inherited 2 very bloody wars. One was a lie (Iraq). The other one (Afghanistan) if anyone had bothered to read their history books would have realized that it was one of the catalysts that brought down the supreme USSR. This was binLaden’s plan. He may not have planned the attacks, he did plan on having us go into Afghanistan so that history would repeat itself. And look, it is damn near close to doing that.

We have the worst Presidential candidates on the planet running this year. And the scary thing that keeps me up at night is that one of them will win.

Saudi Arabia only played a small role in the attack. They supplied the alleged hijackers, who were likely just patsies (I think that they used drones, and if there were even any real hijacked planes, they were not the ones that hit the buildings).

People within the US government and Israelis played a much larger role in carrying out the attack.

I think the release of the 28 pages of the 9/11 report that implicate people with tie to the Saudi government shows that the original investigation had elements of a whitewash, and it also shows that most of the information we need is already available.

It is clear that the 28 pages were classified because the Bush administration wanted to maintain close ties with the Saudi regime. It is also possible that letting people know about Saudi government involvement would undermine part of the Bush administration case for a war against Iraq – President Bush and others implied that the Hussein regime in Iraq aided Al Qaeda and was implicated in the 9/11 attack. So people supported a pre-emptive war on Iraq, and continued to accept the close US relationship with Saudi Arabia.

Libertarians should join with Greens and with other concerned Americans – including Sen Rand Paul and Rep Justin Amash – to oppose the continuing de facto US alliance with the oppressive regime that rules Saudi Arabia – and we need to end arms sales to the Saudis.

I just don’t really get the 9/11 conspiracies. If the government is Machiavellian enough to plan an attack on its own soil, why did they not plant wmd’s in Iraq? The fact that none were found there ruined Bush’s presidency, and arguably setback the neoconservative case for future war.”

There was no need for them to plant WMD’s in Iraq. They had already gotten what they wanted, plus there were lots of people speculating that they were going to plant WMD’s in Iraq, and there were lots of people watching, so the risk of getting caught versus the reward – which they did not really need so much, since they already got what they wanted – was too high.

None of this caused Obama to pursue a non-interventionist foreign policy, just like the disaster that was the Vietnam Conflict did little or nothing to stop future politicians from supporting US military interventions, or from many Americans supporting these military interventions.

I’m all for a more thorough and less biased investigation into 9/11 and always have been.

That said, I consider it unlikely that such an investigation would uncover an explanation composed of “inside jobbery.” Presumably an operation of that scale would have left at least one, teensy tiny bit of credible objective evidence that could and would have been detected without the necessity of a giant investigative apparatus, and the people screaming “inside job” for 15 years would have come up with that crumb by now and paraded it all over the place publicly instead of e.g. trying to wish a 3 hour and 20 minute building collapse into “freefall acceleration” and so forth..

  32. Dave Dave September 10, 2016

That said, don’t really think it’s a bad move on Stein’s part. She’s not trying to win the election, she’s trying to get 5% or so. And there are enough people who this line of questioning appeals to that it can’t hurt her chances with them.

  33. Dave Dave September 10, 2016

I just don’t really get the 9/11 conspiracies. If the government is Machiavellian enough to plan an attack on its own soil, why did they not plant wmd’s in Iraq? The fact that none were found there ruined Bush’s presidency, and arguably setback the neoconservative case for future war. Had they been found there, I’m all but certain Bush or his successor could have taken on Iran as well. Trump is clearly not the guy they wanted to be the GOP nominee (not saying he’s a saint, just looking at all the architects of neoconservatism that are endorsing Clinton or sitting this race out.) So it can even be said that it led to them losing control of one of the two big parties.

A lot of these theories assume competence on the part of the government which it clearly lacked a few years later, so I’ve never really been able to be hooked by them. Not like I am with JFK or Roswell, both of which appeal to me more romantically I suppose. (And Nessie, but she’s hardly in the same league.)

The information from the recently released 28 pages show that many of those in power in this country have worked hard to cover up the Saudis’ role. Although I think that was a small release which contained only a bit more truth, it does show complicity on our part.

Shortly after the disaster, there was the first and quite thorough investigation of the collapse. IT was a proper libertarian investigation, organized by insurance consultants and private firesafety experts. There was a great deal of interest, because steel structures do not normally have this sort of failure, the rare counterexamples being battleship structures at Pearl harbor. It found that the planes took down the building, including most of the fine details of the building collapses.

However, what we have here is Jill Stein to kidnap our party’s kook wing. Alas, she is not a global warming denier, and they are, so her effort to kidnap them is likely to fail.

9/11 was NOT an inside job. It was 4 airplanes hijacked by terrorists, planned by Bin Laden.

    Get over it.

Ron Paul does not have too much on his plate to make a statement about the 9/11 Truthers. He just doesn’t want to alienate them by calling them wacko nut-jobs who need psychiatric intervention – they send him a lot of donations.

Dear God, please protect Dr. Stein. She has a lot of courage, just like Cynthia McKinney.

I commend Stein/Baraka for this principled stand. The world is owed an explanation of exactly what happened and who was behind this terror. 9/11 was an inside job, and a real, nonpartisan, independent investigation would blow the lid wide open. The perpetrators need to be brought to justice.

WeareChange member: “Why won’t you come out with the truth about 9/11?”

Dr. Ron Paul: “Because I can’t handle the controversey, I have the Federal Reserve to deal with and the IRS to deal with, because no, I just have too many things on my plate..”
