Evan McMullin may run for Congress as an independent; poll shows he could win

Ballot Access News:

On Friday, April 21, Evan McMullin appeared on MSNBC for about one and one-half minutes. He said he hasn’t decided whether he will run for public office in 2018. There has been speculation that he might run for U.S. Senate or U.S. House in Utah as an independent.

This poll shows that if Evan McMullin, independent presidential candidate in 2016, were to run as an independent for U.S. Senate in Utah next year against incumbent Republican Senator Orrin Hatch, McMullin would win. The poll shows: McMullin 33%; Hatch 29%; an unnamed Democrat 11%; someone else 10%; undecided 17%. Thanks to Political Wire for the link.

Well, as usual we libertarians are lower than “an unnamed democrat”, “someone else”, and “undecided”.

Let’s confront reality: there is no way we can change this juggernaut of idiots. We need to carve out our oasis. Stop thinking about peeling the State like an onion, layer by layer. We need a knife to cut a section, from the core to the surface. If it is just 3 degrees out of 360, so be it, other sections will follow the example.

What does that even mean, Andy? He seems to be a Neo-Con himself, show how can he be a “shill” for them? If he were such a “shill” wouldn’t he be running as a republican?

It depends on what he runs for. For example, if he runs for Senate and Hatch does not retire, he may have an easier time beating Hatch as an independent than in the primary, depending on what the primary rules are in Utah. Then again he may have just as easy a time in the primary if it is open, or he may want to go for a different office. It may be that he does not want to run as a Republican because he thinks Trumpism has sullied that party irreparably. Or the whole thing may be all talk and he may not run for anything.

Which sounds like the Trump we used to know! 😉
