I totally agree with Adam about Larry Sharpe. Sharpe has been doing a great job promoting the libertarian message thus far.

Perhaps we will see Adam Kokesh and Larry Sharpe both on stage at the Libertarian National Convention in 2020 competing for the Libertarian Party’s presidential nomination.

Another interesting thing to note from this video is that Adam once again brings up Hans-Hermann Hoppe and his private property, covenant community concept, which falls inline with my Libertarian Zone proposal ( http://independentpoliticalreport.com/2014/07/andy-jacobs-the-libertarian-zone/ ). This is the third video where Adam has brought up Hoppe.

Yes, more and more reasons not to support Adam Kokesh. Kudos to Andy for drawing attention to the positions of candidates which are rascist, batshit-crazy, and/or anti-immigration.

I hope there will be a radical candidate for the LP nomination in 2020.

I really like Larry Sharpe. Regardless of what you think of his views (and I’m not a Libertarian, so I disagree with most of them), Larry Sharpe is the kind of guy you want in any third-party or activist movement — talented, hard-working, a real movement-builder.

Why are all the fake libertarians who claim to know what’s best for US immigration policy always Germans or Scots living in Canada or some shit?

Maybe they could all go have their own Whitefucktardistan in Novaya Zemlya or somewhere like that and stop trying to tell the rest of the world what to do.

    Hello itdoesntmatter –

Are you talking about the Hans Herman Hoppe who teaches at UNLV in Nevada?

  7. Luke

You’re almost a decade behind the times, wolfefan. He retired from UNLV in 2008. Last time I heard he was living in Turkey.

This a completely idiotic statement from Chuck Moulton. Thanks, Chuck, for showing everyone what an irrational, worthless asshole you really are.

I challenge you or anyone else to find one thing in that video that Adam Kokesh said that was racist. It would not surprise me if Chuck didn’t even watch the video, but if he did, he just showed that he’s got poor comprehension skills.

Adam was talking about decentralization. He is running on a platform of initiating an orderly shut down of the federal government (if anyone thinks that this is unrealistic, so is any other platform that any other Libertarian Party candidate for President runs under, because no Libertarian Party candidate stands anything resembling a realistic chance of winning the presidential race, and this will remain true unless or until major changes happen beforehand to where this would even become something resembling a realistic possibility, and this is not going to happen in 2020 no matter who the LP runs). This would still leave state and local governments in place, and he suggests that people could chose the kind of government that they’d prefer at the local level, but he encourages people to initiate orderly shut downs of state and local governments as well. His reference to Hoppe was that in the absence of the state, people could form voluntary, private communities, based on their preferences.

Adam is currently on a national tour. If Chuck or anyone else here wants to confront him on any issues, here is your chance to do it in person:

    http://thefreedomline.com/calendar/

Adam was in Philadelphia yesterday, September 9th, for the End the Fed rally in Philadelphia. He’s backtracking to Ohio, then he’s headed to Michigan, and then to the Northeast. He will be back in Philadelphia on October 1st, after which he heads south to Maryland, Virginia, etc…

If anyone here wants to confront me about anything in person, you will probably get the chance to do so at a future meeting or convention somewhere. I plan to attend one of Adam Kokesh’s tour stops. I should also be at the Libertarian National Convention in New Orleans next year. I welcome all debate challenges.

The best I can ascertain is that Kokesh vis a vis immigration theoretically takes the Hoppean position but in practice takes the Friedman position. The Friedman position being: presuming the welfare state, legal immigration is a bad thing, but illegal immigration is a good thing. Hence, it would not be accurate to lump Koskesh in w/ the paleo position.

One can judge for oneself from this relatively recent youtube debate between Kokesh and Vin Armani. Neither side appears to accept the legitimacy of the State to control borders. Instead the debate appeared to be centered around Friedman’s position that legal immigration + welfare state==net loss in liberty. In practical terms, this would entail a choice in libertarian policies between:

simple non-enforcement of immigration laws vs paving an easy path to legal citizenship

Personally, I reject both the Hoppean position in principle and the Friedman position in practice. However, the problem w/ Kokesh is a political one regarding some his on camera associations. Associations that would be toxic to the LP.

Most likely nothing himself, but any positive mention of Hoppe is a huge demerit. Hoppe should never be referred to with anything except contempt.

He literally would not have the power to that as president. Why not run on a platform of making everyone ultra-rich with a wave of the presidential pen, if you are going to just make shit up? So, yeah, it’s very highly unlikely that the LP could put up anyone who could actually win no matter what they said in 2020. But if we run someone who promises to do thing that they can’t do even if they somehow got elected that is not a good formula for anyone who is paying attention to take the LP seriously at any level. Which may be OK – perhaps it’s time to intentionally run a humor campaign. But then roll with that all the way and make it more self-conscious humor.

Browne proposed radical solutions, but one thing that was effective about his speech about all the things he could do as president was that he actually studied the subject and talked about things he would have the power to do. Abolishing the federal government was not one of them, even though there is plenty in his writing that would indicate he would not have been opposed to that. But while the idea of Browne winning was always far fetched, he inspired the kind of confidence that if he somehow did win he would know what to do. Suppose lightning struck and we won on “we’re going to abolish the federal government.” Then we discover we don’t have enough power to do that. Now what?

“His reference to Hoppe was that in the absence of the state, people could form voluntary, private communities, based on their preferences.”

Not exactly an original Hoppe insight. There are plenty of other references he could have given on that one.

If it actually came down between the two; Larry Shape would overwhelmingly win, and I hope that he does win the LP nomination in 2020.

    Exactly!

I wouldn’t’ve even known Kokesh had a Hoppe fetish unless Andy had told us. Now Andy is getting angry that we are taking information he has put out about a candidate and using that information to form conclusions.

Every time Andy “compliments” a candidate’s closed border immigration position, rascism, or whacky conspiracy theory, that will be a reason to vote against that candidate, not for that candidate. Thankfully, Andy continues not to realize he is batshit-crazy, and he will continue to out his crazy compatriots.

    Andy,

What other presidential hopefuls have spoken favorably of Hoppe?
