If you believe that Mr. Sharpe’s only goal for this campaign should be to retain ballot access for the very first time for the LP of New York state, then you will love his performance in this interview.

Even though he does not talk in RadicalSpeak, he does not say anything that would move public policy in an anti-libertarian direction. In fact, I think his word choice is excellent given the overwhelming leftward tilt of the voters in NY state.

I think that Sharpe did a great job in this interview, and I don’t think that his only goal should be to retain ballot access for the LP of NY. Retaining ballot access should of course be a goal, but his other goals should be to build the Libertarian Party and movement. I’ve heard rumors that Mr. Sharpe may seek the LP’s presidential nomination in 2020, so if he decides to do this, another goal for the campaign should be to build his name recognition and fundraising base.

I’d love to see Larry Sharpe get elected as Governor of New York, but I just do not think that this is realistic. If he were running for a city council seat, or a seat in the state legislature, I think that he’d have a shot at winning, but the high cost of running for Governor, along with all of the special interest groups that would come out hard against any non-establishment candidate winning, puts this office out of reach.

Thank you for posting this interview segment! With Larry Sharpe visiting our state this fall for a speaking event, we’ll publicize this as a promo video, since few here know who he is yet.

How are you? Answer: “Good”, should be “well’. North versus South? RIT, not RTI . . . I can only do about two minutes of LS . . . sigh . . . this dude talks circles around nothingness. Serious media ignores him, upstate never hears about him. Another 3rd party candidate will outshine him in the debates, if at all.

Prediction: LS (if he get the nomination), gets no more than 30K in NY. Tea Party remnant gets another Astorino fail and Andy stays boss. LS still runs for LP nomination in 2020.

    Good luck, LPNY.
