You know, when someone does something foolish, like support Smith in the chair race, it seems to color everything else they say as foolish or delusional. I suppose Sharpe has financial incentive, selling his “libertarian leadership” classes.

I wonder if Smith would use party funds for “libertarian leadership academy” training.

Gotta agree. Hanging out with and buddying with Ramsey doesn’t help either.

It is pretty sad that Sharpe agrees with miltiary veterans Ramsey and Smith. (None of whom, I get the impression, actually saw real action. Maybe those types are the MOST loyal cause they have the most to prove?)

It just shows that his REAL commitment is to the military and his military buddies and NOT to liberty or the Libertarian Party.

    That’s my take, anyway.

I do not believe that Larry Sharpe’s motivations are for militarism. I have met him twice, and I’ve watched a bunch of his videos, and he strikes me as a guy who legitimately wants to move the country in the direction of more liberty. Larry Sharpe is a salesman, and he’s a good one. If he is supporting Josh Smith, or anyone else, it’s because he believes that they do the best job selling the message of liberty and building the party.

As a prior service member of the party (Honorable Discharge, SP/5*, USAR) I condemn the notion of attacking people because they have served in the military. Ramsey and Smith may be wrong, but having served in the military is not wrong.

On the other side, it is also an attack on Congressman Paul (Flight Surgeon, USAF).

As a prior service member of the party (Honorable Discharge, E-5, USMCR), I condemn the claim — sometimes implicit, sometimes explicit, but frequent — that having been a government workfare client makes one SPESHHHHHHUL and entitled to be protected from criticism.

Is serving in the military wrong? Well, you’re responsible for the things you do. Taking a paycheck from stolen money is wrong. There’s a good chance that in the military you will be asked, ordered, or find yourself in situations that seem to require you to do wrong and evil things.

That doesn’t mean anyone who serves in the military is or was a bad person. We all make mistakes. We don’t all demand to be worshiped for our mistakes.

This is NOT militarism. They might feel they or their buddies are the greatest victims of government wars, after all.

But one so often reads ex-military guys say that their military experience (even if not in war) was the most meaningful of their lives. Also Sharpe’s father was a military guy, so he’s got a special emotional bond.

What I’m talking about is this attitude which I’ve also put into a meme:
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/for-some-veterans-john-kellys-remarks-add-to-a-worrying-military-civilian-divide/2017/10/21/62c944ce-b667-11e7-be94-fabb0f1e9ffb_story.html

“We don’t look down upon those of you that haven’t served,” (General John) Kelly said Thursday. “In fact, in a way we’re a little bit sorry because you’ll never have experienced the wonderful joy you get in your heart when you do the kinds of things our servicemen and -women do.”

This video which was posted here gives you a better idea of his views. He’s NOT a warmonger but he does seem overly fond of military. And to a lot of libertarians the first and foremost purpose of the military is to keep the people down and prevent them from seceding. “Defense” a second unless it’s some little country that actually faces direct attack. All the attacks the US faces currently are retaliatory for being a bully.

I would like to know what he thinks is broken in the LP. I have my own opinion on that issue but if he is going to make that comment, I wish he would go into some details.

I actually feel sorry for Larry and his buddy Josh Smith. There main idea seems to be “get a lot of money from cryptocurrency guys” – and then do what, what ever those guys want?

The only the platform they have is ARVIN BAD. Me and my buddies GOOD.

Did you even bother to listen to the interviews I posted here of myself interviewing Joshua Smith and Larry Sharpe? I talked to both of these guys at great length, both on camera and off camera, and you are over-simplifying their ideas. Both of these guys have ambitious plans for the LP. Can they implement them and make them successful? I don’t know. I’m just pointing out that they are not as simplistic as you are making them out to be.

Andy: A lot of people do NOT want to listen to long videos. They have to put stuff in writing for us.

  13. Andy

Carol, if you are not willing to listen to what these people have to say, you should not jump to the conclusion that their platform is, “Arvin bad, me and my buddies good.”

And if you can’t find a link for those who would rather spend 5 minutes reading than 25 minutes listening, you aren’t doing your job as a reporter. I’ve gone to their sites and was not too impressed with what I read. I’ll put Larry’s on my do list to look at at some point to see what’s new..

  15. Andy

I am not a paid reporter. If you want to find out more about these guys, and you don’t want to listen to any interviews, this is the internet, so start searching.

Sharpe has some track record of success in some things, or at least seems to, so maybe he has potential, but his friendliness with e.g. Ramsey and Joshua Smith (the guy who reportedly run the Augustus Invictus sock account, buddies with Ramsey and Samuel Lucas Kinton aka Luke Von Trapp, defends the American Guard, etc, etc) gives me pause. As for Joshua Smith I have not see a record of success in anything, or for that matter honesty – only the opposite.
