Heading into turn 4, Fiscal Responsibility is pulling ahead as Special Interest Money lags further behind. It’s Fiscal Responsibility in the lead…..Fiscal Responsibility….

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, race fans, and we have a lot to be thankful for. But we haven’t crossed the finish line just yet. With 2,597 more District 5 votes counted today, we have stretched our lead to 624. The percentages are now 50.38 for Jeff Hewitt and 49.62 for Russ Bogh.

Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, ballot processing will not resume until Friday and counting of all the remaining Vote-by-Mail ballots will be done on Sunday, so it should be a very large run. Processing of Provisional ballots is scheduled to begin on Monday, and the Registrar has stated that since Provisional ballots come from the precincts pre-sorted, close races like ours will be given priority in the counting.

Enjoy your holiday and we’ll be back here reporting on Sunday evening!

“Updated results are now posted. Approximately 64,000 Vote-by-Mail and 45,000 Provisional ballots still must be processed. The next updated results will be posted at 5:00pm on Sunday.”

Jeff Hewitt in Riverside County is winning his Supervisor race with ~75% of the votes counted. It is not final yet, but the campaign predicts a unqualified win based on the voting trend. He has gone from 44% to just over 50%. He got 56% of the vote of those who went to the polls on election day.

Riverside County is the 11th most populous county in the entire US and is larger than New Jersey. The Board of Supervisors decide an annual budget for the county in excess of $5,000,000,000. They decide the enforcement and administration of all levels of law in their county. There are no other directly elected political positions with more direct say on how government affects citizens than County Supervisors.

Don’t know why people are calling this guy a libertarian…. Just looked him up, comes across a staunch social conservative. This was really an election between a Nationalist Republican and a Traditionalist Republican.

Social Conservatives dominate Riverside County, and have for many years.

A true social conservative may be on the conservative side religiously, but at the same time refuses to have government be the crutch or club for the religion. IIRC that is where Hewitt is at. If so, then there’s nothing wrong with that.

Having the government be the crutch or club for a religion is actually promoting big government with a religious slant, aka theocracy. The term “social conservative” is a statist’s misnomer.

And that species is about as populace as a true flying pig…

Aaaannndddd coming out of turn 4 into the final stretch, it’s Fiscal Responsibility surging ahead of Special Interest Money at a THUNDERING pace…Fiscal Responsibility in the lead by over 1,100 votes….Fiscal Responsibility…

With 6,118 more District 5 ballots counted today, Jeff Hewitt has surged ahead by 484 votes to take a commanding lead of 1,108 votes out of a total of 88,038 District 5 ballots counted thus far. That’s a 1.26% difference (50.63% to 49.37%).

This should be the bulk of the District 5 ballots cast, as the Registrar moved all precinct-sorted District 5 ballots ready for counting to the front of the line at our request, along with ballots from a very close Congressional race. There are, however, still quite a few VBM’s countywide that have not completed the count preparation process. The final stretch to the finish line is going to be an extremely slow process because Provisional ballots take extra steps. Typically, a voter has stopped at a polling place outside their precinct, so their votes have to be manually copied to a ballot that ONLY includes races in their precinct. The Registrar has predicted that we will not know the final results until December 6th, when every County must send their certified results to the Secretary of State.

Having reached cruising velocity with a comfortable gap, Fiscal Responsibility is heading toward the finish line, picking up an extra 32 vote margin just for fun as Special Interest Money languishes far behind our 1,877 vote lead. Fiscal Responsibility easily besting Special Interest Money…It’s Fiscal Responsibility heading for the win….

Good evening, race fans! As much as we would have liked to see the acceleration of the last several days continue, it seems that pushing District 5 ballots to the front of the line for counting has pretty much exhausted the supply of District 5 ballots available to count until Vote by Mail (VBM) signature problems have been corrected by voters who have been sent signature confirmation letters to sign and those letters are returned, enabling the Registrar to put those ballots into play. Even so, we picked up another 0.02% lead out of 826 District 5 ballots counted today to put us at 50.98 to 49.02%. All the remaining VBM ballots without signature issues should get counted either tomorrow or Thursday, after which Provisional ballots should start showing up in the count. Provisionals are currently being processed at a rate of about 2,000 per day, according to the Registrar, with about 20 employees working their tails off to check for ballot validity issues on the envelopes and send qualified ballots into the counting process.

Next race update this Friday around 6-7pm Pacific.

Hope you put your money on Fiscal Responsibility, ’cause it’s looking pretty darned good at this point on the track!

“Updated results are now posted. Approximately 10,000 Vote-by-Mail and 45,000 Provisional ballots still must be processed. These figures are ONLY an estimate and will not reflect precise machine counting. Due to the heavy volume of ballots returned at polling places, estimates will continue and are subject to adjustments. The next updated results will be posted at 5:00pm on Friday.”

    Excellent news, thank you.

Regarding some comments further above, in what ways is Jeff Hewitt a social conservative?

  8. That Guy

    Hi Gina,

There are a few people who post here that are also just a little bit disconnected from the reality that you and I share. They just make stuff up to fit their world view, and then post it trying to dare the world to tell them they are wrong. Free speech…

Jeff Hewitt is not a social conservative nor is Riverside County. In 2016 Hillary Clinton won the county. If you live out in the boonies with the meth heads, you might come to the conclusion that it is conservative. But the neo-nazis out there don’t vote as a rule, their political involvement has more to do with playing dress up, cooing over each other’s uniforms, and intimate nights out camping out with the fellas telling the wives they are patrolling for illegal immigrants. Those freaks are the socially conservative wing of the California GOP in the area and the Libertarians want nothing to do with them.

Jeff Hewitt’s opponent was a social conservative. He was also a former state representative and was groomed from birth to take political positions to bolster the family business which builds institutions like prisons and schools. Like most of the GoP in California he was a hatchetman for extra-state concerns writing bills that targeted minorities by race and other protected classes. The Hewitt campaign talked frankly to their Democrat and independent voters about this in a mailer that had a very compelling picture of hispanic children’s hands clinging to a jail’s chainlink fence.

His campaign manager Boomer Shannon, and several of his other staff have been anti-drug war activists for a long time. Some even worked on the original Medical Marijuana bill in California in 1995 that started the trend towards legalization now. There is a compelling narrative told in California by Libertarians that demonstrates these same activists who propelled Hewitt forward also were responsible for breaking the deadlock marijuana legalization had in California politics.

The rather sizable Libertarian activist army resident in Southern California is very well organized and they had a demonstrable effect on Jeff Hewitt’s vote performance. They are approaching voters from the point of view that Libertarianism really represents the best of both worlds. They only work with candidates that represent the whole cloth Libertarian philosophy which has the California Party leadership angry.

The leadership of the California Libertarian Party is visibly working for Roger Stone trying to and trying to consolidate power in the same way his operatives infiltrated the Reform Party, raided it and shut it down for the GoP. They actually put several of Jeff Hewitt’s strongest activists on trial in a secret tribunal in closed session without notifying the accused hoping to disrupt the campaign for the enemy. There have been several of these attempted purges of long standing and successful membership in the last two years.

We will likely be hearing a LOT more about that in the coming months. We are seeing increased infiltration in our forums by paid Trump Trolls, the one’s Stone is managing, and an increase in party officers suddenly having money where they did not before, sabotaging activism and trying to manipulate bylaws. The establishment is scared of California’s LP… that aspect of things is a good sign at least.

    Thanks for the explanation.

Poor guys. I can sort of relate. Many of my hookups tell their husbands and boyfriends they are going to a baby shower, tupperware party, hair and nail appointments, clothes shopping, the gym …well that last one is pretty true, they get a good workout 🙂

I feel ya completely. On LGBT rights the Hewitt campaign is pure Libertarian. Their campaign manager worked as the California Libertarian Party’s liaison to the No on 8 campaign and on their

The irony that I meant to illustrate is that these same people rally hard against LGBT rights. The OG Nazis back, early in their formation, were an LGBT rights organization. Most of their early recruiting was from the oppressed homosexual community that has started to come out of the closet in the early 20th century France and Germanic countries. Once in power the Nazi’s purged the group, assassinating party leadership that had given them their momentum and driving most of the homosexuals in the party back into the closet, where their sexuality could be used as leverage.

Frankly, if you ask me, there is nothing more dangerous than a Nazi in the closet. This particular group I alluded to illustrates the problem with horrific clarity.

That would explain why they had such fabulous spiffy uniforms.
