LBJ-era Attorney General headlines PSL’s National Conference on Socialism

The Party for Socialism and Liberation will be holding a “Fight Back” conference at the University of California Los Angeles this weekend, apparently as both a primer for newcomers and an organizational session for stalwarts eager to move forward past the campaign season:

Gloria La Riva arrested outside of White House

Party for Socialism and Liberation Presidential nominee and National Committee to Free the Cuban Five Coordinator Gloria La Riva was arrested outside the White House Friday along with four colleagues from the Committee, the ANSWER Coalition, and the Venezuela Solidarity Network. The five arrested were attempting to deliver 102,000 petition signatures from 78 countries to demand the release of Five Cuban citizens whose convictions on espionage related charges were recently denied appeal in the 11 Circuit Court of Appeals.… Read more ...

PSL House candidate talks Iran policy at peace conference

Iraq War veteran and Party for Socialism and Liberation candidate for US House from Florida’s 22nd District Michael Prysner gave a speech discussing the United States’ policy towards Iran over the course of the last half century. Speaking as a representative of the ANSWER Coalition, of which the PSL is part, Prysner remarked:

The ANSWER Coalition believes the following: It was the colonial policy of the major capitalist powers, which led to a global struggle for the division and redivision of markets and spheres of influence.

PSL candidates protest Saddleback Forum

In addition to the Bob Barr campaign’s McCain-Feingold challenge to Saddleback Church’s presidential forum, another third party took issue with the event while applying a different strategy against it.

Gloria La Riva, the Party for Socialism and Liberation‘s presidential nominee joined two local PSL candidates (Lucilla Esguerra and Sergio Farias) and at least 300 other activists in protesting the forum, calling the demonstration a protest of the war and a defense of workers rights:

While the bourgeois candidates hobnobbed with reactionaries in the church, a truer expression of the political process was raging outside.
