Civil Rights Leader & Libertarian Party Member Roy Innis Dies

Last week, Roy Innis, a Civil Rights leader and registered member of the Libertarian Party, died at age 82.  He had suffered from Parkinson’s Disease.

NC Libertarians Say Repeal HB 2

Press Release

RALEIGH (April 26) – The Libertarian Party of North Carolina has joined the growing list of organizations calling for the repeal of House Bill 2.

“The state has no authority to determine gender,” the unanimous resolution states. HB 2 also “unduly intrudes state authority into local decision-making and unreasonably limits the ability of the citizens … to govern themselves.”

In addition, the bill reduces individual rights because it “bans citizens from using state courts to remedy discrimination”

Maryland Greens and Libertarians hand in signatures; petitioners harassed, one arrested at public library

The Maryland Green Party submitted 14,842 signatures and the Maryland Libertarian Party submitted 13,787 signatures towards a requirement of 10,000 valid signatures. The deadline for submitting additional signatures has been extended to March 7:

The Maryland petition deadline for a party that wishes to obtain, or regain, its qualified status is not until August 2012.

Libertarians condemn FBI raids

The NC Libertarian Party has issued a statement condemning the Sept. 24, 2010 raids by FBI agents on the homes of 14 anti-war activists in Minneapolis and other cities. Warren Redlich Follows In Rand Paul’s Footsteps

Warren Redlich is recieving the Rand Paul treatment. Redlich, who is the Libertarian Party nominee for Governor and a former election lawyer for Rand Paul’s father’s presidential campaign in 2008, has stepped into the Civil Rights Act controversy started by Rand Paul a couple of weeks ago.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Warren Redlich said Tuesday that he agrees with Kentucky Senate candidate Rand Paul that the federal government was wrong to desegregate private businesses when the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed.
