New Polls for Cahill, Stein in MA Gubernatorial Race

A Boston Globe poll conducted Sept. 17-22 has Patrick in a statistical tie with Baker, leading him by 35 percent to 34 percent with Democrat-turned-independent Tim Cahill at 11 percent, Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 4 percent and 14 percent undecided. The margin of error is 3 points.

  • In a challenge to the idea that Cahill predominately pulls conservative voters from Republican Charlie Baker, the Independent seems to be lining up some union support.

It’s not surprising that police unions are lining up to support Tim Cahill in this year’s race for governor. After all, Gov. Deval Patrick must have expected some defections among the ranks of Democratic voters when he led the charge to allow civilians to replace uniformed officers at construction sites.

Jill Stein Makes Ballot in MA Gubernatorial Race

With more than 10,000 signatures, Jill Stein, the Green-Rainbow Party candidate for Massachusetts Governor, has now qualified for the November election. The party also turned in signatures for two other candidates to appear in the general election. Richard Winger at BAN reports that the party only needs one its candidates to receive 3% of the vote in the next election, so it should have automatic ballot-access in 2012.… Read more ...

A recent poll from Suffolk University shows Massachusetts Green-Rainbow party candidate Jill Stein at 8% in the race for MA governor against 3 better-known and better-funded opponents:

In the poll of registered voters, 42 percent say they would vote for [incumbent governor Deval] Patrick, compared to 29 percent for Baker and 14 percent for independent Tim Cahill.

The progressive activist and publisher of Open Media Boston Jason Pramas has published an editorial concerning the entry of Green candidate Jill Stein and Green-turned-Democrat Grace Ross into the Massachusetts gubernatorial race.

My main fear is not that Patrick will lose and that a Republican will be elected governor. Pretty much the same pro-business policies are going to result either way – although it will be somewhat worse in some important policy areas if the Republicans win.
