Bob Barr slams Illinois House impeachment resolution; calls Blagojevich impeachment premature and irresponsible

Former Congressman Bob Barr issued a statement today criticizing the Illinois House of Representatives for its resolution impeaching Governor Rod Blagojevich, calling such a move “premature” and “irresponsible.”

“To impeach a duly-elected governor against who there has been no formal charges whatsoever brought, much less a finding of guilt, is premature and highly irresponsible,” said Barr, a former federal prosecutor and a Clinton impeachment manager during his service as a member of the United States House of Representatives in 1998-1999.… Read more ...

Green Party candidate for Congress qualifies for ballot in Connecticut; supports impeachment and war crimes trials for Bush, Cheney

The Bridgeport, Connecticut News reports:

Richard Duffee has qualified for the ballot as the Green Party candidate for Congress in the Fourth Congressional District, which includes Bridgeport.

Duffee said he has received notification from the secretary of the state’s office. Duffee has unsuccessfully run for the seat in the past.

The district now is represented by Republican Congressman Christopher Shays, who is facing a challenge from Democrat Jim Himes.

Also, note that there are a number of good third-party candidates this year, including Libertarian presidential hopeful Bob Barr and Green Party sensation Cynthia McKinney, who has twice the brains and three times the cojones of the major party “men.” If you like the idea of a woman president, but also like the idea of a person of color in the Oval Office, vote for McKinney and you’ll get both — and the best candidate as well.
