OPINION: My Wish for 2013: Stop the Killing of Children

From an article by Jill Pyeatt:

I’ll always remember the morning I heard the terrible news of children being killed in Sandy Hook, Connecticut.  Twenty children!  How could this happen?  They were at school–a place that should be safe and happy for small kids.  And it happened so close to Christmas!

Libertarian Party: Obama kowtows to military-industrial complex

WASHINGTON – The Libertarian Party criticizes the Obama administration’s recent statement demanding more military spending from House Republicans.

The administration claims that the Republican spending bill currently under debate does not provide enough military funding. According to the administration, "The bill…would reduce funding for the Department of Defense to a level that would leave the Department without the resources and flexibility needed to meet vital military requirements."

As a percentage of GDP, military spending under Obama has been higher than it was during any year of the hawkish George W.… Read more ...

Supporters of former Libertarian candidate Ron Paul heckle Cheney, Rumsfeld, call them war criminals at CPAC

Via John Grooms at Atlanta’s Creative Loafing:

Yesterday at CPAC, the big conservative conference in D.C., Ron Paul supporters and other libertarians in the crowd spoiled a sweet Bush-era reunion by launching a shouting match and protest action. First, Donald Rumsfeld was brought onstage, where CPAC was to present him with, unbelievable as it sounds, its “Defender Of The Constitution” award.

San Francisco Libertarian Activist Starchild at Protest of Solidarity with the People of Egypt

San Francisco Libertarian Activist Starchild attended a protest of solidarity with the people of Egypt. The protest took place Saturday, February 5, and took place at United Nations Plaza in San Francisco. Starchild’s rough estimate is perhaps three or four hundred people were present. I encourage people to get these and similar images up on as many Libertarian and libertarian sites as possible, including LP.org, for LNC members who — unlike ordinary Libertarian Party members, shamefully — are the only ones currently able to post content to our national party website.

Paleocon Red Phillips Discusses Potential Libertarians for President

Posted by Red Phillips at Conservative Heritage Times. Although Phillips also writes for IPR, I (Paulie) am posting it here to make it clear that any opinions expressed are those of Phillips, not an IPR editorial. As with many other stories I post, I am posting it for the sake of discussion, not necessarily because I agree with the author.Read more ...

Libertarian Blue: ‘Libertarians are Right Wing?’

Libertarian Blue:

One of the advantages or disadvantages (depending on how you look at it) to being a libertarian is that liberals and conservatives accuse of us of being the other.

Daily Dish blogger Andrew Sullivan had nominated Lew Rockwell of all people for the Michelle Malkin award. Now what in anyone’s political mind who actually pays attention and not just repeats sound bites would think Lew Rockwell and Michelle Malkin are the same stripe?… Read more ...

Boston Tea Party national committee chair Darryl Perry: ‘The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same’

Email from Darryl Perry, Chair, Boston Tea Party National Committee:

It’s that time again. The time that rolls around every two years; when men and women spend outrageous amounts of money telling us why they should be chosen to serve in Congress. They say outrageous things to “scare” you into believing that their opponent is either the devil-incarnate or the rebirth of Hitler, Stalin or any other number of bad “rulers” from times past.… Read more ...
