Frank Luntz encourages Bloomberg bid with poll showing 29% against Trump and Clinton

The New York Post reports: 

The survey by veteran pollster Frank Luntz shows Bloomberg within striking distance of the two leading major party candidates — Republican Donald Trumpand Democrat Hillary ­Clinton.

Bloomberg would garner 29 percent, compared to 37 percent for Trump and 33 percent for Clinton.

“The numbers are clear and compelling: there is definitely room for a second billionaire in this election,” said Luntz, who worked for Bloomberg’s mayoral run in 2001.

See this article from Politico, about Republicans “laughing” at the idea of Bloomberg independent bid they think would pull votes almost exclusively from the Democratic nominee.

But even if Bloomberg’s “dream scenario” of Cruz as the Republican nominee and Sanders as the Democrat came to pass, Oman remarked, there are many weeks to go before the two major parties decide.
