Reformers for ballot access rally at capitol to demand change from state legislators who ran unopposed
Outraged by a process that keeps too many legitimate candidates off the ballot in Wisconsin elections, a coalition of reformers will be meeting at the Wisconsin State Capitol on February 17, 2016 for their second annual Lobby Day, to demand state legislators who ran unopposed in 2014 act now to ease Wisconsin’s restrictive election laws.… Read more ...
CPD Keeps Polling Threshold for Participation Despite Legal Challenges
October 30, 2015, Salt Lake City, UT — A senior advisor to the Our America Initiative is calling the announcement by the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) that a 15% polling threshold will once again be used to determine participation in the 2016 presidential debates “disappointing but certainly not shocking.”
The Our America Initiative, a nonprofit political advocacy organization, is supporting a lawsuit filed September 29th in Federal Court charging that the CPD’s control of the general election presidential debates constitutes an illegal monopoly and unfairly excludes qualified candidates other than the Republican and Democrat nominees.… Read more ...

“Is this country of 300 million people only capable of being governed by two families?,” asks Gary Johnson, the former two-term Republican governor from New Mexico, who also ran for president in 2012 on the Libertarian Party (LP) line. “The biggest factor in politics is name familiarity,” says Johnson, referring to Clinton and Bush, “and that’s the phenomenon that exists right now.”
Johnson began the 2012 campaign as a Republican, and then switched to the LP.
Ballot laws mean only half of Assembly races are contested, Libertarian says

When state Assembly seats are on the ballot, Wisconsin voters have far fewer candidates to choose from than residents of neighboring Minnesota and Michigan, a group called Competitive Elections Wisconsin claims.
