Libertarians, we’re hiring and paying $3 per signature in Illinois, $2.50 in Pennsylvania, $2.50 in Connecticut, and need volunteers in Ohio too, right away!

There are no donation links in this email (for once). Only instructions on how to get hired.

LNC at Large member Starchild has circulated a proposal for a petitioning web site, allowing people to petition the LNC or to circulate general petitions. He proposes:

My initial conception of this site was simply as a tool to help me be more organized and effective as a Libertarian National Committee member by enabling me to keep track of which other committee members support which of my ideas, and to mobilize popular support within the party for motions I’d like to get adopted.

On August 1, 2012, the Libertarian Party of Pennsylvania submitted nearly 50,000 petition signatures to get Gary Johnson and Judge Gray on the ballot in Pennsylvania. Wisconsin Bill Would Shrink Petitioning Time for New Party Qualification Petitions to Three Months: January, February and March

The Wisconsin legislature is currently considering SB 116, a bill with the major purpose of moving the primary (for office other than President) from the first Tuesday in September to the first Tuesday in August. Maryland Bill to Ease Petitioning

Maryland State Senator Edward J. Pipkin (R-Stevensville) has introduced SB 630. It clarifies that petition signatures do not need to exactly match the name of that voter in voter registration records. Several years ago, the state’s highest state court issued a ruling that seemed to say that petition signatures must match perfectly with the form of the name on voter registration records.… Read more ...

IPR investigation: Where has Americans Elect attempted to get on the ballot?

In my last update on Americans Elect I wrote:

Jim Cook has updates on Americans Elect activities in Arizona, Nevada and Ohio. The petitioner grapevine has it that Americans Elect petitioning has been completed in Arizona and Kansas, but Nevada is the only state that their signatures have been verified to have been turned in to the state through sources I have seen.

Maryland Greens and Libertarians hand in signatures; petitioners harassed, one arrested at public library

The Maryland Green Party submitted 14,842 signatures and the Maryland Libertarian Party submitted 13,787 signatures towards a requirement of 10,000 valid signatures. The deadline for submitting additional signatures has been extended to March 7:

The Maryland petition deadline for a party that wishes to obtain, or regain, its qualified status is not until August 2012.

Jim Cook reports at Irregular Times that Americans Elect is now listed as a political party with the Nevada Secretary of State. They are currently gathering signatures in Arizona and Nevada through Arno Political Consultants.

Americans Elect is registered as a corporation in every US state, and Kellen Arno is listed as the Secretary of Americans Elect.… Read more ...
