Minneapolis Green City Councilor Cam Gordon working to lessen impact of police racial profiling

As reported by the Daily Minnesotan, Cam Gordon, the Green City Councilor representing District 2 in Minneapolis, has introduced a bill to repeal “lurking” and “spitting” as arrestable crimes.  Gordon is also working to obtain data from the city’s police force on the racial dynamics of policing in Minneapolis.

The Ward 2 Councilman wants to stop arrests for lower-level offenses like lurking or spitting.

Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in the Montbello neighborhood that sent one man to the hospital early today. Denver Police say the shooting happened at 51st and Fontana Court just before 4 a.m. They say the initial report was that a man was trying to harm himself.

San Francisco LP activist Starchild instrumental in putting prostitution decriminalization on the ballot

Press release posted on the LP Radicals yahoo group. Starchild has had various offices in the San Francisco and California LP, and is one of the spokespeople for this initiative.

The San Francisco Department of Elections announced today that the measure prohibiting city officials from spending money arresting and prosecuting people for prostitution, and mandating equal legal protection for sex workers, has qualified for the November ballot.
