Independent candidate for Mass. gov. Tim Cahill alleges Republicans sabotaged his campaign

Massachusetts independent Timothy Cahill filed a lawsuit Thursday against former operatives who recently defected from his campaign, saying they conspired to get his running mate Paul Loscocco to quit the ticket, and were working with national Republicans to pass along confidential information that would undermine his candidacy for governor.

A Boston Globe poll conducted Sept. 17-22 has Patrick in a statistical tie with Baker, leading him by 35 percent to 34 percent with Democrat-turned-independent Tim Cahill at 11 percent, Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 4 percent and 14 percent undecided. The margin of error is 3 points.

  • In a challenge to the idea that Cahill predominately pulls conservative voters from Republican Charlie Baker, the Independent seems to be lining up some union support.

It’s not surprising that police unions are lining up to support Tim Cahill in this year’s race for governor. After all, Gov. Deval Patrick must have expected some defections among the ranks of Democratic voters when he led the charge to allow civilians to replace uniformed officers at construction sites.

MA: Stein and Cahill Will Accept Public Funding in Gubernatorial Contest

Independent candidate for governor Timothy Cahill has agreed to accept public financing in his campaign for governor by limiting his spending to $1.5 million. The state Office of Campaign and Political Finance announced Tuesday that Cahill and Green-Rainbow Party candidate Jill Stein both agreed to the spending limit, which allows them to collect up to $750,000 each in public funding for the general election.… Read more ...

Jill Stein Makes Ballot in MA Gubernatorial Race
