Cindy Sheehan announces intent to create 5000 person, indefinitely long anti-war protest

In an email to her supporters today, anti-war activist and 2008 independent congressional candidate Cindy Sheehan announced an ambitious protest that she hopes to see started by March of next year.  Before saying what she will be doing, Sheehan listed things that she sees wrong in this country, which she called a “police state.”  She talked about poverty, health care, war, Obama, and more.  Then she announced “Peace of the Action:”

To that end, we are organizing the most ambitious anti-war, peace event ever. We are planning what we are calling, Peace of the Action which will be the largest, most aggressive and sustained action ever done in DC.

We are calling for 5000 people to commit to come to this Nation’s Capitol to participate in daily civil resistance to stop “business as usual,” because “business as usual” in this town is so corrupt and disordered.

We are not calling for this commitment for a day, a week, or a month. We are not even interested in making symbolic gestures. We are calling for this commitment until our demands of: All troops and para-military mercenaries, are ordered out of Iraq and Afghanistan, the drone bombings in the tribal regions of Af-Pak are discontinued and we get about the business of healing, reconciliation and REPARATIONS.

I am going to move to DC to help coordinate these actions and I will be 100% committed with you to be: “all in it to win it.” This time true change will happen, it must.

We must sacrifice a few of our creature comforts to rein in the Empire we live in before it’s too late. We will not start Peace of the Action until we have 5000 people who are willing to join us.

This plan is ambitious, audacious and bold. However, I truly think we have a chance to be successful. We are looking for many coordinators, helpers and hell raisers and are hoping to house, (or tent) and feed everyone until Peace happens. This will take massive infrastructure and financial support.

Hopefully we can begin Peace of the Action by the 7th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq on March 19th.

What is significant about this to third parties – other than Sheehan advancing the agenda of all three national third parties and many smaller parties – is that she will be moving to Washington, DC.  When I interviewed her in June, she said that if she ran for office it would only be local office.  This means that she will not be running for office again in San Francisco, at least until this protest is over.  It also seems unlikely that she will run for office in Washington, based on her comments during the interview and in this email.

Cindy the Gold Star Mom and her Band of unfocused befuddled angry American citizens! Best wishes but Cindy is her own worst enemy!

Wouldn’t it be interesting if Cindy found 5000 supporters to come to Washington & protest. & I can’t find 5 to call a press conference in Washington to support The Progressive Libertarian Alliance Strategy to sweep most dems & reps out by Nov., 2012. What a pathetic bunch of losers.

Losertarians=losers. puke Greens=losers. progressives=Obama lovin’ losers. What a pathetic bunch of losers.

Count me out, Cindy. I’ve got better things to do, like change my cat’s litter box.

Let’s all go to Washington & beg the reactionary pigs for peace. You know, the ones that get voted into office just about every single time. Yeah, right. Sounds like a good idea & lots of fun.

I think it would be a lot of fun to vote the bastards out. But, what do I know?

  7. Robert Milnes Robert Milnes October 7, 2009

Cindy, you should have told your son not to go fight in that little bastard’s stupid war. & if he said no, smacked him. He might have listened to you.

I’d vote for you, Cindy. But I wouldn’t go to Washington to protest the war for you. I wouldn’t for my own mother either, God rest her soul. But I would if it could bring her back to me, or your son to you.

    Robert,
Calling Libertarians, Greens and Progressive losers all the time assures that no one will support your Strategy (which is nonsense anyway) or take you seriously.

Also Cindy has a better chance of getting 5,000 supporters for her protest, then you have of getting 5 supporters of your delusional strategy because she doesn’t insult everyone.

What we have is a situation where a possibly winning plurality of progressives and libertarians get suckered into winding up voting for either a reactionary democrat (Obama) or republican (Bush). Then they have to endure their reactionary policies. Instead of getting their act together & coordinating their vote. Then you ask me to go to Washington to protest the war? A war I watched Americans vote for repeatedly? No, I’m sorry. I won’t reward stupidity. So go to your stupid war, Americans, & die. & pay for it with hundreds of billions of dollars. Buy bombs instead of butter. Hmmmmm. Seems to me I heard something like that before. Progressives for Obama! Vote for him! He’ll end the war! Send him hundreds of millions of campaign contribution dollars, you fools! Don’t vote for that crazy Bob Milnes. LOL! Don’t send him a thin dime. LOL! Let him rot in rotten Camden, NJ. LOL!

Hey, maybe we’ll get lucky & one of those rotten Camden buildings will fall on Bob & then he’ll shut up! He’ll be in the basement drunk or smoking dope. After all, he’s a bum from Camden so he must be a druggie or a drunk! Hey Bob! Hang out in front of buildings & maybe a facade will fall on you. & that’s what you get for insulting people, you crazy asshole!

One day I’ll bother writing a thourough rebuttal to your concept Mr. Milnes. I’ll have to get myself pretty bored first though.

I didn’t read any of Robert’s comments, but Mike Indiana’s response made me crack up anyway.

Despite not being the most eloquent spokesperson for an anti-war movement, kudos to Cindy Sheehan for remaining true to her cause – unlike the many progressives who now rationalize Obama’s Af-Pak War as some sort of progressive cause.

The thing is that Obama and the Republicrat vampires of DC don’t give a shit if 5,000 or 500,000 people protest their wars.

Here’s a sad little story of peace activism in the Imperial City:

If Cindy is the ‘best’ then why is she unable to operate a two car parade ?????? This is very insincere to her supporters ………..
