Carl Paladino Will Be On Ballot As Taxpayers Party Gubernatorial Candidate Even If He Doesn’t Get Republican Nomination, But He Wouldn’t Campaign

Ballot Access News:

The July 30 Buffalo News has this confusing story, which seems to say that if Carl Paladino loses the New York Republican gubernatorial primary on September 14, he will still be listed on the November ballot as the nominee of his new Taxpayers Party. But, if he loses the Republican primary, he would not campaign in the general election.

Moran overcame a strong challenge from fellow Rep. Todd Tiahrt (TEE’-hart). The key issue for many voters was which longtime politician would be more aggressive in fighting President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats.

Moran promoted endorsements from conservative senators such as tea party favorite Jim DeMint of South Carolina, while Tiahrt had the backing of former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Under NY election law, three days after the submission of Paladino’s independent petitions, he would have to submit an acceptance or declination of candidacy. This would be weeks before the September primary.
