From a lengthy guest post at Zero Hedge by Jim Quinn:

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news. There are no easy solutions. There are only painful, more painful, and really really painful solutions. Both mainstream corrupted political parties have had the chance to put the country back on a prudent fiscal path. They have both failed miserably. One party will spend the country into oblivion and the other country will try to democratize the world with their military machine. There are no fresh ideas from either party. There are the same old stale ideas and rhetoric.

I’ve been waiting for someone to distinguish themselves as a straightforward leader who will level with the American people and tell them the TRUTH . . .

Both parties are captured by corporate lobbyists, the military industrial complex and Wall Street. Lobbyists spend $40 billion per year “convincing” politicians that their ideas should be implemented. Politicians DO NOT represent the people. They represent those who give them the most money. Radical earth shattering change is needed to save this country. Incremental steps won’t work. We need a leader wielding a sledgehammer.

Read the whole thing.

“One party will spend the country into oblivion and the other country will try to democratize the world with their military machine. ”

Correction: both will spend the country into oblivion and both will try to “democratize” the world with their military machine.

Have we learned nothing from these last 10 100+ years?

    Paulie is right…

We have an excellent and strong third party – the Green Party – in the U.S.

We need more people willing to be Green Party candidates for local, state, and federal office.

We need more Green Party people to be on the PTA, the civic association boards. We need more Green Party people to be precinct captains, block captains.

The way to do it is no mystery. Just do it. Get out there and get on the ballot as a Green Party candidate, and learn the process by doing..

Joschka Fisher has always been correct about that for Greens…learn by doing…that is basis, grassroots democracy at the foundation of the creation of the Green Party.

    paulie + Green party conservative=losers.

Considering the source, I’ll take that as a compliment.

Thanks for saying I’m right, but my preferred third party – and the biggest alternative party in the US – is the Libertarian Party, as you probably know.

The way you phrased it conveys the impression that I said something like what you say after “Paulie is right.” Kind of like “Like to hear(here) it goes…”

I do not understand why paulie continues to belittle me. I agree with him far more often than not. We are both in The Crazy Losers Club.
As Jay Leno would say, ‘What’s up with that?”

OK, I just read the full article by Quinn.
    Oh, brother.
He elaborates on the situation-no, not his abs-. Fairly accurately. He makes some interesting proposals.
Then he ruins it all by lauding Ron Paul except for his age. & proposes a Ryan(not Paul)/Chris Christie ticket via the Constitution Party.
    Then he calls this “revolutionary”.
First, no, this would be COUNTERREVOLUTIONARY.
He presents the argument against a new third party that it would take a lot of wherewithall to build the infrastructure of this new third party. Correct. Also there is the argument against that I have put forward that a new third party would compete with the existing third parties-unless it was primarily centrist. Hence work through the CP.
He overlooks PLAS. The GP and esp the LP could champion most of his proposals. No need to start a new party. Simply maximize & vote coordinate between the GP & Lp. He also overlooks -or just doesn’t state-The Libertarian Vote. The CP would need oit just like the GP would need it-to win. dems & reps are only going to lose some of their vote to this third party. The CP would take mostly from the GOP leaving a DEM lead. Just like the GP would take mostly from the Dems leaving a GOP lead. The Libertarian Vote is the swing or kingmaker vote in this scenario.
The Libertarian Vote could either make a revolution or counterrevolution.
That is the possibility for 2012.

Similarly with Tom K. I agree with him-almost always!
Yet he would rather gouge his eyes out-or preferably mine-than support my candidacy.
As Jay Leno would say, “What’s up with THAT?”

jq: Radical earth shattering change is needed to save this country. Incremental steps won’t work. We need a leader wielding a sledgehammer.

me: I read this article (skimming parts) and did not see an elaboration on this assertion. I am especially concerned with the notion of a leader with a sledgehammer…on its face: contra-indicated, IMO.

jq: Revenue from Social Security would increase by $200 billion.

me: Now here’s an idea that has contra-indicated written all over it 😉

It’s great that a lot of people are reaching the conclusion that the Rs and Ds are beyond redemption, lost in a fog of corruption and confusion.

The impulse for a “radical” “strongman” to heal the nation’s woes seems attractive to some, but this hombre strongly suggests otherwise. Seen that movie before, hated the ending.

GPC: “We need more people willing to be Green Party candidates for local, state, and federal office.”

No, we don’t. We need more Greens to help fight for easing ballot-access restrictions, ending foreign militarism, and re-legalizing marijuana. I don’t think we need any alternative party besides the Libertarian Party to field more candidates.

Milnes, you started off by calling Paulie a loser. He replied that he’ll take that as a compliment considering the source. Then you have the nerve to say he belittled you? You continue to amaze.

Instead of repeatedly calling people losers and assholes on this site, you should try to achieve a “fusion ticket” between your brain and reality. Try hard.

Guys – Wake up! Don’t you get it. The world is about to catch on fire and your still talking about political parties. It doesn’t matter what party you choose are make up. It’s time for real change.

Join the Revolution or prepare for a collapse!
