Howie Hawkins on what lies beneath Obama’s “Mission Accomplished” Speech

Howie Hawkins

from Green Party New York

Obama’s speech affirmed popular slogans: bring the troops home and focus on jobs and economic recovery at home. But it was as disingenuous as Bush’s weapons of mass destruction excuse for starting the Iraq war in the first place.

The reality is quite different from what Obama said. It is only the tactics of occupation that are changing. US troops are being redeployed to an escalating war in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The occupation in Iraq is being turned over the mercenaries – the armed forces of the Iraqi government that the US trained and commands from the Green Zone and the largest embassy compound in world history, plus a very large and costly force of US private military contractors for security and special ops combat under the State Department. The overall goal remains the same as during the Bush years: domination of the region for its oil and its strategic geopolitical position.

Meanwhile, Obama talked of focusing on jobs, education, and economic recovery at home, but offered no substantive program. The reality is that when the economic needs a stimulus of public jobs programs and public spending to rebuild US manufacturing around green industries, his administration is focused on deficit reduction by cutting Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare.

The military budget is growing to maintain the occupation of the Middle East and Southwest Asia, while the domestic spending on American’s needs is being cut. That is the grim reality behind Obama’s slogans.

And I speak to the Lord and say “take all prosperity away from the pig traitor Howie Hawkins and his despicable master fascist/stalinist Ralph Nader. The revolutionary accomplishments of our commanding officer General Barack H. Obama, who led us to victory and exit with honor in Iraq, shall e’er prevail over the detractors, and lead us toward the guiding light of world peace.”

Hey Cav., how is that new national progressive party thingie going? Haven’t heard much about it.
Just roll over for Obama & spread your legs & say ahhhhh.
Ask him real nice to use lube.

What is needed is for the low candidates to knock on every door & explain PLAS. That progressives & libertarians can win if they maximize & coordinate their bloc vote. & the voters need to vote for them; put some responsibility on the voters for the dem/rep problem.
You are going to go right over the voters’ heads with your progressive party politics, despite your best intentions.

The New York Times has Green Party story today.

It’s about homeless people in Arizona on the ballot as Green Party candidates for statewide office.

This is terrific news. The Green Party has always advocated for including everyone in the political process.

The poor in America vote the least. Now the Green Party has three homeless poor as Green Party candidates for office.

It is a great Green Party victory. These poor have a strong voice on the ballot, in the debate thanks to the Green Party. It is how America should work, and thanks to the Green Party ballot status is working.

These good Green Party poor folks now have an opportunity to be heard, and perhaps even elected.

The Times spin is that these Green Party candidates were recruited by the Oil Party.

    Whether true on not..

That is not a bad thing. These Green Party candidates could be spectacular successes for America, and the Green Party.

There is always Murphy’s law of unintended consequences.

Already the Green Party is getting coverage in the New York Times that otherwise the Green Party would never have seen.

The major media blackout of the Green Party is broken.

Others will now know the Green Party exists and they may be future Green Party candidates.

And the economic underclass, long abused, and neglected, have three representatives on the ballot as Green Party candidates.

This is one of the Green Party’s great success stories of 2010.

Interesting Green Party lines from story..

    About the Green Party candidate..

The view along Mill Avenue, where the first-time candidates appear to have been emboldened by the exercise, as Mr. Pearcy’s street corner campaign speech last Thursday night attests. Dressed up spiffily, he described himself as the illegitimate son of a stripper who had had run-ins with the law and a tough childhood but who had pulled his life together.

“I’ve been homeless,” he said, his eyes darting back and forth. “I got a place. Anyone can do it. We’re all good enough.”

There was nodding all around, more than when he went into his pitch to solve the budget deficit through the installation of solar panels. As Mr. Pearcy went on, Mr. May whispered “focus, focus, focus” into his ear to get him back on track and help prepare him for a debate in early October, which will be televised across the state

It’s a strong positive Green Party message..

  8. Catholic Trotskyist

Robert Milnes, Green Party Conservative are all intelligent, principled people who are sadly on the road to nowhere because they don’t understand the greatness of Catholic Trotskyism, Obama’s epistomoology of the left-right parallel center, and the Fringe Alliance Strategy of our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI.
As for whether I am a troll or not, this is a great laboratory for social experimentation and the distillation of God’s messages.
