Cheri Honkala, national coordinator of the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign, to run for Philadelphia Sheriff with the Green Party

Although the official announcement will not come until February 17th, the following was posted on the blog of veteran activist Cheri Honkala‘s son, who is himself a somewhat famous actor:

This is my mother Cheri Honkala. My mother and I were homeless for a couple years when I was 10 years old. Since then my mother has become one of the most effective human rights activists in the world. Due to the foreclosure crisis happening in this country, she has decided to run for Sheriff in Philadelphia to personally prevent foreclosures of peoples homes.

Please share this video. We can make an impact.

It’s up to us.

So glad the Green Party is putting forth such an amazing candidate for Philadelphia sheriff. It’s about time a major political party has the guts to fight a worthwhile battle.
