    Lewis Lehrman served alongside Rep Ron Paul on the U.S. Gold Commission, appointed by President Reagan in 1981 to study the possibilities of a return to a gold-backed U.S. dollar.

    Libertarian economists Murray Rothbard, Joe Cobb and others served as advisors to the Gold Commission.
