Wayne Root Addresses Harvard

Wayne Root addresses class at Harvard where he:

  • promotes free markets and personal freedom
  • states there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats, and the need for a third party
  • describes the importance of having goals, being relentless, being patient, being enthusiastic, having energy, maintaining a positive attitude, having unwavering faith in yourself, running scared, having positive addictions, having many deals in the pipeline, being an intelligent risk taker, owning a business, creating success from failure and overcoming rejection
  • asserts that when you give something of value away for free, you always ultimately get something back in return

I watched the video and really enjoyed the positive message Wayne Root conveyed to those students.

I’m amazed that someone is willing to travel and donate so much time doing something such as this.

Starr: “Iā€™m amazed that someone is willing to travel and donate so much time doing something such as this.”

    Come now, you’re not “amazed.”

You know very well that Root is investing (not donating) his time and travel into promoting himself.

The very fact that you (and doubtless other Rootbots, and Root himself) will try and spread this trivia as a “news story” demonstrates that this is self-promotion.

Additionally, the title is (once again) misleading. It implies that Root addressed all of Harvard, or at the very least, an entire graduating class.

A more accurate title would be: “Root Addresses a Class at Harvard.”

I am eager to see if W.A.R.’s lesser-of-two-evils endorsement of Mitt Romney is addressed at the convention as I assume the kiddos in this class did not bring it up.

I addressed a high school class a few months back. In fact I addressed two of them and nobody posted about that on IPR . Guess I’m jealous. šŸ™

The front page of the new site looks a lot more professional than the old one – except for where they forgot to capitalize his name – that’s the kind of mistake I’d make. šŸ™‚ It looks pretty sharp, though.

The pictures inside sure need updating, though… lots and lots of pictures with GOP celebrities where the titles of people have not been corrected in years. I assume it’s still a work in progress and they’ll get to it eventually. Likewise the choice of photos – Wayne with GOP heroes like Mitt Romney and Karl Rove and George W. Bush and the like (especially Norm Coleman – based on his columns I suspect Wayne would now have little use for him as a Senator. It must be left over from the Millionaire Republican days. And Michael Chertoff !?!) In fairness, I’m not sure what current LP leader he could have posed with that anyone outside of the party would readily recognize. šŸ™‚

MHW @ 8: Hey, I gave a talk about Executive Orders this week, and no one posted it here, either. šŸ˜€

Here’s the BOOT ROOT report on the event:
http://vzaar.com/videos/977383 Root says on video “My goals today is to become the first third party independent Presidential, not just candidate, but hopefully POTUS in the year 2016, 2020 or 2024…..” He doesn’t tell his daughter’s Harvard class what party he’ll be running on, of course. Does he say libertarianism in the talk? Will have to listen more carefully.

At just past 27 minutes into the video, Wayne talks about goals. His goa, as stated, is: “My goals today is to become the first third party independent Presidential, not just candidate, but hopefully POTUS in the year 2016, 2020 or 2024.”

    Oops–forgot the word “Libertarian”.

Addresses classes. A whole bunch of them.

You can see a course on game design (only some classes), a course on polymer dynamics, and a special topics reading class (I could not get a classroom at the appointed hour, so I am leading people through the textbook that I write, sort of like having PowerPoint slides except you can take notes on them).

I gave a guest lecture at a major university on Wednesday (part of a job interview for a tenure-track faculty position).

    Is that news?

It was in the same classroom where one of the faculty had arranged for a showing of Atlas Shrugged Part 1 when it came out. Is that important?

I did actually listen to it, the first one I’ve listened to all the way through, and remembered how fun it was living in NYC and being pumped up by all my pushy Jewish friends to achieve something and not give up. Of course, hanging around with too many lazy gentiles since I left NYC – 30 years ago!! – I’ve let things slide. Thanks for kicking my ass, Wayne. Of course, that doesn’t mean I’m going to spend the next 2 years trying to get Root kicked off LNC and/or LNCC if he retains those positions. I really DO have more important things to PUSH PUSH for – like a) staying alive and b) getting the nonviolent radical decentralist libertarian movement off ITS ass! GO GET ‘EMMMMMM Carol….
