But Miller says the banner is nothing more than a “party initiative” and not necessarily reflective of his presidential ambitions.
Miller, a filmmaker originally from Iowa, produced such films as the 1998 television movie A Place to Grow and the 2000 Western Jericho. As the A3P’s first-ever presidential nominee, in 2012, he received 2,702 votes and generated mainstream media attention for his cordial visit with Iran’s then-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Currently, Miller is focused on removing the “racialist perspective” from the platform and leadership of A3P, which recently renamed as the American Freedom Party (AFP). He envisions the AFP as a “nationalist/populist/patriot unity,” with which he can identify. The party has previously been described as “white supremacist.”
As for 2016, “there is too much uncertainty ahead for me to make any decisions yet,” says Miller. However, he will not rule out a run.
