From Gov. Bill Weld’s Facebook page:
I apologize for being a couple of days behind in writing this letter. As you may have seen, Governor Johnson and I have been busy making the media rounds in New York City — taking the Libertarian Party’s message to virtually every network and major media outlet in the nation.
The response has been amazing, and has, I hope, validated the confidence Delegates placed in me last weekend when you nominated me to be the Party’s nominee for Vice-President of the United States.
I am honored to have received that nomination, and am proud to now be taking our message to everyone who will listen.
I am also very conscious of the fact that the convention was, at times, a bit tough — and my candidacy controversial to some. I understand that, and look forward to earning your trust in my ability to help lead the Libertarian Party to historic success in 2016.
You selected me to do a job, and I intend to do it well.
We have a lot of work to do, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. If the national response to the Johnson/Weld ticket so far is any indication, we are well on our way to establishing Libertarians as not just a third party, but the viable and sane alternative.
But before we tackle the hard work of the general election campaign, I want to simply take a moment to express my deep gratitude to you for allowing me to join Governor Johnson on the Libertarian ticket. It is your dedication to Liberty that has put us in a position to do great things in 2016, and I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of achieving those great things.
It is time for us all to unite and go about the task of putting Libertarian principles on the national stage. I look forward to working with you to do just that.
Governor Bill Weld
