Darryl W. Perry recently announced a write-in campaign for President. Mr. Perry sought the Libertarian nomination for President at the national convention in Orlando, Florida over Memorial Day weekend. He received 6.8% of the delegate votes on the first ballot, and 5.6% of the delegate votes on the second ballot. Governor Gary Johnson was nominated on the second ballot with 55.8% of the delegate votes.
The Libertarian National Committee is committed to fully supporting the nominee of the delegates at convention and will continue to do so with all available resources.
Mr. Perry remains a life member of the Libertarian Party and was recently elected state chair of the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire. The LNC has no authority over the election of state party officers nor over the actions of state officers who choose to run rogue write-in campaigns.
Nicholas Sarwark
Chairman, Libertarian National Commitee
Hey, Jim, it was a perfectly sensible effort unless you have had a direct exposure to the reporting process. It was far more solid than Bernstein’s claim that Weld was going to drop out of the campaign based on more or less no evidence.
Have a great Fall!
George
Interestingly, while the “libertarian Libertarians” applaud Perry for running against the Libertarian candidate, and attempt to deflect criticism by attacking Bill Weld again, the LP Radical Caucus has reacted to Mr. Perry’s run by terminating his membership, as per their bylaws:
http://freevirginia.blogspot.ca/2016/09/radical-reaction.html
” still think Perry should be censured from the party. This kind of shit is unacceptable and Perry needs to be taught a lesson.”
I think the statement from Nick Sarwark is all the official action required. No need to make more of it than it is.
Any lessons Perry receives should be in the form of what support or lack thereof he receives in future endeavors.
Darcy G Richardson “…and Abramson didn’t report anything to the state of New Hampshire regarding Sununu’s campaign finances. Those campaign finance reports were filed directly by the Sununu campaign.”
Well, that was the best I could do after midnight while watching TV. I’m not as good at concocting conspiracy theories as Andy.
Weld’s contributions to the Sununu campaign, moreover, were reported in the Boston Globe more than 10 days ago:
http://www.bostonglobe.com/news/politics/2016/09/22/libertarian-for-life-donates-gop-candidate/24GPl5Aaa0AOXWpQeFeKgI/story.html
Surely Weld would have refuted it by now if it wasn’t true — unless he, too, never bothers to read a newspaper, which I seriously doubt is the case. Unlike goofy Gary, he seems like a reasonably well-informed guy.
…and Abramson didn’t report anything to the state of New Hampshire regarding Sununu’s campaign finances. Those campaign finance reports were filed directly by the Sununu campaign. Some of Johnson’s supporters are apparently even dumber than their candidate.
“The Seacoast Libertarian gave the check/cc to Abramson. We’ve established that Abramson is in on it. Abramson simply reported the money to the state of NH as coming from Weld rather than the Seacoast Libertarian. As long as the accounts balance, the state of NH isn’t going to look any further into it. They don’t have the resources to check every line from every campaign’s financial reports.” — Jim
That’s a pretty serious charge, not to mention entirely unsubstantiated. Johnson’s supporters are apparently growing kind of desperate, which is totally understandable given the kind of month they’ve had trying to defend their clueless, gaffe-prone candidate.

The check would have to had been written out with the name William Weld on it, and it would have to go back to a bank account of somebody named William Weld. If it was a credit card donation, it would have to go back to a credit card that was under the name William Weld.
Does anyone know if “Jim” is posting from an IP anonymizer? “Jim” sure is exhibiting troll like behavior.

Obviously the Seacoast Libertarians and Darryl Perry convinced Abramson that Johnson/Weld weren’t really Libertarians and, therefore, not worthy of a real Libertarian’s support.

”’So they had to make another $200 donation on 9/8 and then anonymously notified the press.’
And they faked a check and signature from Weld HOW? Those reports are from the campaign, based on the money the campaign received. (Alternatively, they forged a PayPal location how?)”
Good point, George. Which Seacoast Libertarian put themselves at risk of going to jail for check or credit card fraud and for election fraud for campaign finance fraud for supplying false information to the New Hampshire election commission? This does not sound plausible to me.
Jim said: “Conclusion: Max Abramson, at the behest of the Seacoast Libertarians, is fabricating the claim that he sponsored the event and that Johnson refused to allow him to speak.”
Max Abramson had previously ENDORSED the Johnson/Weld ticket.
I’ve got to wonder if “Jim” (or whoever he/she is) is getting paid to post here by the Johnson campaign, or by somebody else.
” So they had to make another $200 donation on 9/8 and then anonymously notified the press.”
And they faked a check and signature from Weld HOW? Those reports are from the campaign, based on the money the campaign received. (Alternatively, they forged a PayPal location how?)
Mike: “When I look up the definition of ‘rogue’ and I read through it twice, first imagining Darryl and then imagining Gary, it’s interesting what feelings that brings up. Try it!!”
There’s no such thing as “the definition” (ie, only one definition) of ‘rogue’. Thi is probably the one Sarwark means; certainly it’s the one I’d use to interpret the phrase, “run rogue write-in campaigns”:
“Go rogue”: “To cease to follow orders; to act on one’s own, usually against expectation or instruction. To pursue one’s own interests.” (Urban Dictionary)
Of course, those in the LPNH who want to stir up a war with the national party, in the middle of a presidential campaign, have good reason to spin this as an “attack” by Sarwark against Perry: Now, anything they say or do can be justified under the excuse that the national LP attacked them first.
You’re just digging yourself deeper, Andy. The Seacoast Libertarians include Rockingham and Strafford Counties. Max Abramson’s House district is Rockingham 20.
Gary Johnson’s event at the state capital was August 25th. Johnson promoted the event on his web sites. For example: https://www.facebook.com/events/1570774106562980/
But Max Abramson did NOT promote the event. His facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/Max4Gov/events?ref=page_internal
His web site: http://www.maxabramson.org/home/archives/08-2016
Odd that he would not promote his own event, is it not?
The NHLP promoted the event saying Johnson would be there. It makes no mention of Abramson.
https://twitter.com/LPNH
Conclusion: Max Abramson, at the behest of the Seacoast Libertarians, is fabricating the claim that he sponsored the event and that Johnson refused to allow him to speak.
How about the Johnson/Weld campaign allowing Republicans to speak at that campaign event at the State Capital building in New Hampshire, but NOT allowing Libertarians to speak, even though that event was sponsored by the Libertarian Party candidate for Governor, Max Abramson, who is a currently elected state legislator in New Hampshire? Anyone care to comment on this?

The Weld donations are an obvious plot by the Seacoast Libertarians to further their plans to remove Johnson and Weld by discrediting Weld. They made a $250 donation in Weld’s name on 8/2, but it wasn’t noticed. So they had to make another $200 donation on 9/8 and then anonymously notified the press.”
So you are accusing the Seacoast Libertarians of check or credit card fraud, and of election fraud for reporting false campaign finance information (which gets reported to the election commission).
Are you joking, or are you another delusional Johnson/Weld fanboy/Kook-Aid drinker?

IRONY: Bill Weld Donates to Libertarian Opponent for Governor
http://libertyviral.com/irony-bill-weld-donates-opponent-libertarian-new-hampshire/#axzz4LxKUqBBN
Here is a statement from the Libertarian Party candidate for Governor of New Hampshire, Max Abramson (From the article):
“I am announcing today that I am withdrawing my endorsement for the Johnson-Weld campaign.
Governor Weld has decided to support Chris Sununu in the governor’s race against my own active campaign as the Libertarian. Campaign filings with the New Hampshire Secretary of State’s Office showed that former Governor William Weld made two separate donations totaling $450 to RINO candidate Chris Sununu right after receiving the Libertarian Party’s endorsement. Councilor Sununu is running as a Republican, but has voted with the Democrats and (Gov. Maggie Hassan on the council repeatedly to support $549,000 to Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, in favor of Obamacare/Medicaid Expansion, and to confirm numerous appointees to the Board of Education who supported Common Core.
This decision comes only a few weeks after the Johnson-Weld campaign decided to allow Republicans to speak at an event held on the steps of the State Capitol, and then decided to refuse to allow Libertarian candidates to speak. As New Hampshire’s only elected Libertarian representative, I was the sponsor of the event and the first elected legislator to endorse Governor Johnson for 2016.”
MY COMMENT: So not only did Bill Weld, as the current Libertarian Party candidate for President, donate money to a big government Republican candidate for Governor of New Hampshire who is running against a Libertarian Party candidate for Governor of New Hampshire, Max Abramson, the Johnson/Weld campaign also DENIED speaking time to Libertarians at a Johnson/Weld campaign event at the state capital, while granting speaking time to Republicans.
UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE. I’d have a difficult time making this shit up.
Political donations are typically made with checks or credit cards. Do you expect us to believe that somebody committed check or credit card fraud, and election fraud as well by donating and filling out the campaign donation form (for giving the proper information tot he FEC) under the name William Weld just to discredit William Weld?
It is a known fact that William Weld with John Sununu, who is Chris Sununu’s father. Weld went to New Hampshire to campaign with John Sununu for George HW Bush.
Just Some Random Guy said: “Uh, no Andy, someone who CLAIMED to be Weld made those donations. This could have been the real Weld. It could have been someone who just put ‘William Weld’ as the name. ”
LOL! It is amazing the excuses that are being made by the Johnson/Weld nutsack riders.
‘Libertarian for life’ donates to GOP candidate
https://www.bostonglobe.com/news/politics/2016/09/22/libertarian-for-life-donates-gop-candidate/24GPl5Aaa0AOXWpQeFeKgI/story.html
Weld made these donations as the Libertarian Party’s candidate for Vice President, in fact, one of them he made as recently as September 8th.
Uh, no Andy, someone who CLAIMED to be Weld made those donations. This could have been the real Weld. It could have been someone who just put “William Weld” as the name. You can’t claim definitively it was Weld based on the evidence we have. Could it have been? Sure. I wouldn’t even be that amazed if it was. However, it’s disingenuous to claim it to be established fact that Weld made the donation when literally the only thing we actually know is that someone who wrote in “William Weld” as their name made a donation. As S.K. pointed out, claiming to be someone else when donating in order to discredit them is something that sometimes happens.

‘You see, the ruling establishment is scared shitless of the idea of a real libertarian movement ever becoming too popular in this country.’
“Scared Shitless” and “Bednarik” are phrases and names and terms which do not go together.”
I did not bring up the name Badnarik, but since you did, yeah, the ruling establishment is scared shitless of the idea of somebody like Michael Badnarik or Darryl W. Perry, or anyone else that leans strongly in the direction of liberty, becoming too popular.
You may look back at the campaign of Michael Badnarik in 2004 and dismiss it, but keep in mind that 2004 was a much more difficult year in which to run. We were coming off of the very close 2000 election where lots of people believed in the “wasted vote” syndrome, as there was lots of propaganda about how Ralph Nader cost Al Gore the 2000 election (as if Gore was some kind of big improvement over Bush, which he was not). Also, Ralph Nader ran as an independent candidate for President that year again, and in spite of the “wasted vote” syndrome, he was still a higher profile candidate than anyone that the Libertarian Party had ever run, and note that this year, as well as in 2012, there was no higher profile candidate in the race outside of the D’s and R’s for Gary Johnson to compete against for votes and attention (Jill Stein is not a big name, and Johnson has not had to compete against somebody like Nader, or Ross Perot, or Pat Buchanan, or John Anderson). It is also much easier to reach large numbers of people cheaply thanks to the internet, and while the internet existed in 2004, there are a lot more people online now than in 2004, and the quality of the internet has improved since 2004. Another factor is that Ron Paul r3VOLution from 2007-2012 greatly increased recognition of the word libertarian among the general public, and because of this, there are a lot more self identified libertarians now than there were in 2004.
So while Michael Badnarik was not a big name, keep in mind that Gary Johnson has run under easier circumstances than when Badnarik ran.
Even though Michael Badnarik was not a big name, his message was a heck of a lot more threatening to the establishment than that of Gary Johnson and Bill Weld, whose message does not threaten the establishment at all. Badnarik also handled himself better in interviews and debates than Johnson does.
Michael Badnarik came along 4 years too early. I bet that he’d have done a lot better if he had been the presidential candidate in 2008. He would have been a great guy to continue the r3VOLution that Ron Paul started, since Ron Paul had written a forward to one of Badnarik’s books.
“You see, the ruling establishment is scared shitless of the idea of a real libertarian movement ever becoming too popular in this country.”
“Scared Shitless” and “Bednarik” are phrases and names and terms which do not go together.
You know guys the new Hampshire thing could have been a DNC supporter who faked his name. This has happened to many canidates running for nominations on both parties to decriet them.
Sean Scallon said: “When I wrote my last post, I wasn’t made aware of this. And I agree, it’s serious breech of trust and once again reflects poorly on Weld, as much as what Perry is doing reflects poorly on him.”
The only reason that Perry is running as a write in candidate is because the LP has an unprincipled ticket whose VP has now DIRECTLY ATTACKED his state party.
Yes, make no mistake about it, by donating money to the big government Republican candidate for Governor of New Hampshire, Weld is aiding the opponent of the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire’s candidate for Governor, Max Abramson.
Note that New Hampshire is one of the states that has a vote test for ballot retention, which applies to the office of Governor, whereas if a party’s candidate for Governor receives a certain percent of the vote, the party gets automatic ballot access for the next election, which will be in 2018. So by donating the this Republican candidate for Governor (who is not even remotely libertarian), Weld is attacking ballot access for the LP of New Hampshire in the next election.
Weld made these donations as the Libertarian Party’s candidate for Vice President, in fact, one of them he made as recently as September 8th.
Does this strike anyone as the actions of a person who is dedicated to the Libertarian Party, and to the principles of liberty?
“I also believe that Johnson, no matter Weld’s qualifications, was poorly served putting someone like himself on the ticket rather than someone who could unite the whole party”
This is because Johnson and his handlers don’t really give a damn about the Libertarian Party, or about the principles for which it stands.
“and prevent these kind of rogue actions from people like Perry”
So Darryl Perry taking a stand in favor of Libertarian principles, and to defend his state affiliate, and this is considered to be a “rogue action,” yet Johnson and Weld campaigning against multiple sections of the LP’s platform on multiple occasions, and Weld donating to the Republican candidate for Governor of New Hampshire who is running against a Libertarian Party candidate for Governor are not rogue actions?
“Yes Weld does deserve just as much censure and rebuke for this”
Weld doesn’t just deserve censure and rebuke, he should be KICKED OUT OF THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY.
“because it shows once again how there’s simply no consistency to the man which has hampered his political career for years.”
Weld is very consistent as a he’s an establishment hack. He’s a statist. He’s got no business being a Libertarian Party candidate because he is NOT a libertarian and never has been.
” Either the LP provides a credible opposition to the Democrats in place of a Republican Party which is doubling down on a destructive political strategy with a destructive candidate, or there will be none at all. ”
There is none at all this year, or at least not from the Libertarian Party, unless you write in Darryl W. Perry for President.
The Libertarian Party has what is known as a co-opted ticket this year (the same case in 2012 and 2008). The ruling establishment has co-opted the Libertarian Party’s presidential ticket. This should be blatantly obvious with William Weld being a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, or with Johnson’s mainstream Republican campaign staff.
You see, the ruling establishment is scared shitless of the idea of a real libertarian movement ever becoming too popular in this country. If this ever happened, it could be game over for the ruling establishment. So to prevent this from happening, they erect all kinds of barriers, and in addition to this, they send in infiltrators to sabotage the party, and in the last three presidential elections, they have hijacked our presidential tickets and inserted their own people in as candidates.
A Libertarian Party that is not effective. and that puts forth a message that is so watered down that it trickles off in multiple non-libertarian directions, is actually useful to the establishment. Why? Because it wastes the time of real Libertarian activists, and it misrepresents what a Libertarian is to the general public.
So it is great for the ruling establishment to have a Libertarian Party ticket that gets attention in the controlled mainstream media and press outlets and puts out a muddled, watered down, and in several cases, a non-libertarian message.
The Libertarian Party’s ticket this year is not a threat to the ruling establishment at all, because it is a tool of the ruling establishment.
I still think that the Libertarian Party has a lot of good people running for office in down ticket races this year, so by all means, go to the polls and vote for them, and do what you can to promote their campaigns, but the Libertarian Party’s presidential ticket this year is not really libertarian, they are frauds, and voting for them or promoting their campaign is actually counterproductive to the cause of liberty.
” Johnson hasn’t been close to perfect but his polling and newspaper endorsements but him way, way ahead of LP Presidential nominees of the past at this point of a Presidential cycle.”
His polling numbers have little to nothing to do with anything that he has done. Like Tom Knapp said on this site, we could be running Mr. Potato Head for President right now as the Libertarian Party’s candidate, and Mr. Potato Head would be polling higher than average for a Libertarian Party candidate, and heck, Mr. Potato Head would probably handle himself better in interviews and debates than Gary Johnson does.
Also, keep in mind that the mainstream media/press in this country has been controlled for a long time. They are in bed with the state.
“Where is the outrage over William Weld recently donating money to the big government Republican candidate for Governor of New Hampshire, Chris Sununu, who is running against a Libertarian Party candidate, Max Abramson? Shouldn’t Weld be censured from the party?”
When I wrote my last post, I wasn’t made aware of this. And I agree, it’s serious breech of trust and once again reflects poorly on Weld, as much as what Perry is doing reflects poorly on him. I don’t care if he’s contributing to his best friend’s son’s campaign, when you become a major figure within a party you’re expected to support that party’s candidate at the very least profunctuary and if not with damn good reason. I also believe that Johnson, no matter Weld’s qualifications, was poorly served putting someone like himself on the ticket rather than someone who could unite the whole party and prevent these kind of rogue actions from people like Perry which have been the bane of non-major parties for years. Yes Weld does deserve just as much censure and rebuke for this because it shows once again how there’s simply no consistency to the man which has hampered his political career for years.
However, the basic fact of this campaign still remains: Either the LP provides a credible opposition to the Democrats in place of a Republican Party which is doubling down on a destructive political strategy with a destructive candidate, or there will be none at all. Yes, the LP has to become a mainstream political party like it or not and has to have candidates like Johnson who are not perfect libertarians to attract voters who are also not dogmatists either. Otherwise you’re simply another white bohemian, upper middle class indulgence. Johnson hasn’t been close to perfect but his polling and newspaper endorsements but him way, way ahead of LP Presidential nominees of the past at this point of a Presidential cycle.
It’s actually the point DJT made in the debate…she’s got “experience,” but it’s “bad experience.” There I agree with him.
Andy “Check out the latest from William Weld. Where is the outrage over this? ‘Weld ‘not sure anybody is more qualified than Hillary Clinton’ to be president'”
Because of the context which you choose to ignore. Weld was attacking Clinton both on her fiscal policy and foreign policy and basically said it doesn’t matter if she’s the most qualified – her policies are wrong.
Here’s the transcript:
Chuck Todd: Why would Gary Johnson make a better President than Hillary Clinton?
Weld: I think he’s got a very appealing policy mix. The number one issue would be fiscal policy. Gary and I both balanced our budgets and moved our states in more conservative fiscal directions. I think the next President has to do that or we’re going to hollow out the economy. And we won’t have the strength, economically, to do all the wonderful things that Senator Sanders and Secretary Clinton have promised are all going to be for free. It’s not for free just because the government printing presses are churning out the money. There’s actually no such thing as government money. There’s only taxpayer’s money. And the fact that Johnson and I were reelected by wide margins after having been fiscal conservatives in our first terms suggests to me that the voters, at the end of the day, do appreciate responsible fiscal stewardship.
Chuck Todd: Do you believe he’s more qualified to be President than Hillary Clinton?
Weld: I’m not sure anybody’s more qualified than Hillary Clinton to be President of the United States. That’s not the end of the inquiry, though. We were two term Governors, and I think Gary’s very, very solid. We overlapped as Governors and I thought highly of him back when we served together. But, having spent the last several months with the guy, I don’t even just like the guy, I love the guy. I think he’s very solid and deep. I think his insight that it pays to have some restraint about military incursions for the purpose of regime change before we spill American blood on foreign soil and put boots on the ground in countries where we just don’t like what the government in that country is doing. I think that’s a valuable insight. I’m not sure it’s characterized the foreign policy of either of the most recent Bush or the Obama administrations. I think it might be a refreshing change. I think he and I could bring a more tranquil approach to government in Washington because we wouldn’t be screaming at one of the two parties about how stupid they are.
http://www.msnbc.com/mtp-daily/watch/weld-not-sure-if-anybody-s-more-qualified-than-clinton-776869443582
Derrick J – Ron Paul has donated to the Texas Republican party, the Idaho Republican party, at least one of Pat Buchanan’s campaigns, and has endorsed numerous Republican candidates who ran against Libertarian candidates, including the US Senate campaign of Ted Cruz. This despite the Libertarian Party’s refusal to ever run a candidate against Ron Paul.
I’m not sure how much I can benefit from watching a rant on how juice boxes are turning boys into girls – or how 9/11 was an inside job (cue a rant from Darth Andy). The more people watch it, the more credibility that clown gets.
I am so happy I can vote my conscience! Darryl W Perry is the best, most philosophically consistent candidate ever, except Ron Paul.
J.P., actually I watch Jones occasionally. I don’t buy most of his rantings, but I try to expose myself to a range ofrom ideas.
Darryl’s candidacy is an act of conscience, Deran. It might surprise you and other IPR readers to learn that there are still a few people involved in politics who not only have some personal integrity, but also principles they hold dearly — and aren’t afraid to act on them. Darryl is one of them.
Come off it. If it were an act of “conscience” then he wouldn’t be talking out of both sides of his mouth by being chairman of a Libertarian Party state affiliate while also running against the actual candidate. If he thinks the Libertarian Party has lost its way to the point he wants to run against it, then he should cut his ties with it before running for President. THAT would be an act of conscience. THIS is an act of hypocrisy.
Also:
That’s a great question, Andy — and you’re absolutely right. According to the New Hampshire Campaign Finance System, which can be viewed on-line here, the Libertarian Party’s vice-presidential candidate has personally contributed $450 to Sununu’s gubernatorial campaign thus far, including a $200 contribution on September 8th — more than three months after Weld accepted the party’s vice-presidential nomination.
Hrm, that does look rather bad. Though how much do they double-check to make sure all the donors are who they say they are? It seems to me I could just go to some campaign donation website, claim my name is Darryl Perry, and donate to a candidate. I mean, I know doing so would be illegal, but I doubt they’re able to double check every single person who donates.
AM said: I’ve figured this place out finally… this website is where all the delusional LPers go, right along with the mentally unstable and Alex Jones believing conspiracy theorists.
If you’re referring to IPR, we delete the comments of most mentally unstable trolls that show up, and, to my knowledge, Andy is the only one who listens to Alex Jones.
Don’t count me in that crowd AM. I call them out when they start to get JONSEY and TRUMPIAN
I’ve figured this place out finally… this website is where all the delusional LPers go, right along with the mentally unstable and Alex Jones believing conspiracy theorists.
Weld supporting and endorsing GOP candidates against LP candidates is more pressing than DWP running a nominal write-in campaign that will have no effect on election results. Amusing that some are fuming about Perry but won’t utter a peep about Weld.
“Libertarians had a chance to vote for Daryl at the convention. They didn’t.”
Apparently, they will have another chance in November. Good for them.
I find it interesting that on a site “independent political report” that people are actually resorting to arguments that sound indistinguishable from the 2-party duopoly folks. The again, I think the Pragmaticrats want to be those folks. They get to play pretend over here.
Libertarians had a chance to vote for Daryl at the convention. They didn’t
I’m frankly surprised Nick bothered to address this at all.
I love Darryl like a brother.
If he was a write-in candidate in Florida, I would certainly vote for him in preference to Johnson/Weld.
But the amount of damage he will likely do to Johnson/Weld is, effectively, zero. I’ll be surprised if he gets 500 votes nationwide. He will not prevent Johnson from carrying any states (because Johnson won’t come close to carrying any states). His votes will not make the difference between any state LPs achieving or not achieving continuing ballot access.
The sole point of, and the sole effect of, Darryl’s candidacy is to give libertarians who want to vote for a libertarian candidate a libertarian candidate to vote for. He’s doing the job the Libertarian National Convention was supposed to do and decided not to do. Maybe next time the delegates will decide to do that job instead of leaving it undone.
If anything, Nick’s statement probably got Darryl a few votes from people who would otherwise not have even heard of his candidacy. In fact, I kind of wonder if maybe that was what he had in mind. As LNC chair, he can’t come right out and SAY “hey, if you want to vote libertarian, look somewhere other than our busted-ass GOP-reject ticket,” but he CAN shine a bit of light on the situation.
Who is Weld supporting for President? Looks like Hillary Cinton.
“Weld can’t even make the claim that the Republican candidate is a libertarian Republican, or a libertarian leaning Republican.” — Andy
That’s for sure. The Sununus — both father and son — are about as establishment as they come. They’re also longtime Bush family sycophants, which ought to be of some concern to any self-respecting, principled Libertarian.
William Weld declared war on the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire by donating money to the Republican candidate who is running against the candidate nominated by Libertarian Party of New Hampshire. Weld can’t even make the claim that the Republican candidate is a libertarian Republican, or a libertarian leaning Republican. There is no legitimate excuse to defend Weld for this. I would call Weld’s actions here an act of treason against the Libertarian Party.
I applaud Darryl Perry for taking a stand and firing back. Remember, William Weld fired the first shot.
Since Darryll Perry is not running as a Libertarian, what business is this of the LNC? Gary Johnson campaigns with Republican candidates and has not included Libertarians who on the ballot in some of states in which he is campaigning. His running mate, William Weld–who is not and never was a Libertarian in his political philosophy–is actively supporting the Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton with his words–as well as a Republican candidate in New Hampshire with his dollars. These things, Sarwark is silent about. I am glad that somebody in the LP has some principles, amd that people in a few states, at least, will have an actual libertarian to vote for.

Where is the outrage over William Weld recently donating money to the big government Republican candidate for Governor of New Hampshire, Chris Sununu, who is running against a Libertarian Party candidate, Max Abramson?
Shouldn’t Weld be censured from the party?
I think it is a good statement. No need to read Darryl Perry out of the party. People can know his attitude toward The Libertarian Party and decide on their own whether to work with him, or whether to take him seriously,
Darryl’s candidacy is an act of conscience, Deran. It might surprise you and other IPR readers to learn that there are still a few people involved in politics who not only have some personal integrity, but also principles they hold dearly — and aren’t afraid to act on them. Darryl is one of them.
