Doris Gordon, founder and longtime coordinator of Libertarians for Life, died on July 7 at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, Md., after a struggle with meningitis and other health problems. She was 85.
Gordon was an early member/activist in the Libertarian Party and other libertarian organizations, as detailed in a message to the LP circulated at the 1996 and 1998 Libertarian National Convention and available online here.… Read more ...

Most who refer to themselves as pro-life believe that the fetus becomes an individual endowed with full rights at the moment of conception. Most of those who call themselves pro-choice believe that an individual entitled to rights does not exist at least until there is a functional brain, capable of consciousness, which most scientists place somewhere between 22 and 26 weeks.

The real-estate mogul with a genius for self-promotion gave the most-acclaimed — and most colorful — speech at the conservative gathering this afternoon, from the moment he took the stage to the song “Money, Money, Money.”
With no visible sense of irony, he slammed libertarian Ron Paul as a losing hopeful who can’t capture the brass ring and got booed by some for it, said our current president came ‘out of nowhere,” and quoted a business magazine’s story about what a terrific entrepreneur he himself is.
(T)he notorious Koch Industries – run by the type of corporate plutocrats who battled FDR – are described in the October 19 New York Times not as selfish profiteers but as “longtime underwriter of libertarian causes.” Hedge fund manager Paul Singer, another large right-wing donor, is also described as “active in promoting libertarian causes.” But neither Singer, the Kochs or any other of these right-wing plutocrats are supporting any candidate that supports abortion rights, gay and lesbian rights, and the legalization of marijuana – three core libertarian principles.
