Update on Candidates for the Green Party Presidential Nomination

Green Party Watch held a presidential poll with the following results:

1,792 votes cast, Jill Stein received 1,223 of them, or 68%. Roseanne Barr, who had just entered the race in the last week, picked up 526 votes, or 29%. There were 35 votes for Kent Mesplay, and 8 votes for Harley Mikkelson

GPW reports that Roseanne Barr is very active on Twitter, and had tweeted a challenge to Bill Maher, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert to have both herself and Jill Stein on their programs.… Read more ...

Green Party to protest proposed water rate hike on steps of Cleveland City Hall this evening

From the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Members of the local Green Party plan to picket outside Cleveland City Hall this evening to protest a proposed rate hike by the city’s Division of Water and to call for the resignation of Public Utilities Director Barry Withers.

The protest, on the front steps of City Hall, is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Cleveland city councilor switches registration from Democrat to Green

From the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

Cleveland City Councilman Brian Cummins, who came into office as a Democrat, recently sent a letter to the party canceling his membership. He voted a Green Party ballot in the September primary for Cuyahoga County Council. Cummins had been a Columbus Green Party organizer before coming to Cleveland.

In two-way race, Green beating Communist in Ohio

In a rare two-way race between two members of a third party, a member of the Green Party is beating out a member of the Communist Party for a seat on the Cleveland City Council.  Both are also members of the Democratic Party, and Congressman Dennis Kucinich endorsed the Communist.  With 17% of precincts reporting, the Green is winning by 20%. … Read more ...
