Libertarian Party files suit against McCain-Feingold restriction on accepting deceased donor’s bequest

judgeRichard Winger reports at Ballot Access News:

In 2007, Raymond Burrington died and left the Libertarian Party $217,000. The Federal Election Commission would not let the party have the money all at once. Instead, because the McCain-Feingold law limits the amount of money an individual can give to a party (whether the donor is alive or dead), the money had to be parceled out in chunks of about $30,000.

Libertarian candidates file suit against ban on medical marijuana campaign contributions

SPRINGFIELD — Two Libertarians seeking state office are suing the state over its prohibition on campaign contributions from the medical marijuana industry.

Claire Ball of Addison is seeking the office of state comptroller as a Libertarian Party of Illinois candidate, and Scott Schluter of Marion is running for the Legislature in the 117th Representative District under the same banner.Read more ...

Tancredo Out Raises Maes in CO Gubernatorial Race

The Constitution Party website has the following news.

Anemic fundraising, ongoing problems with campaign-finance violations and loss of support from key party members continue to plague Republican gubernatorial nominee Dan Maes.

Maes this week reported that he raised $50,201 in August. While it was the campaign’s best fundraising month to date, third-party candidate Tom Tancredo raised nearly four times as much — $198,820 — and Democrat John Hickenlooper collected eight times Maes’ August figure, just over $411,000, bringing his total contributions for the campaign to more than $2.7 million.Read more ...
