Update on Candidates for the Green Party Presidential Nomination

Green Party Watch held a presidential poll with the following results:

1,792 votes cast, Jill Stein received 1,223 of them, or 68%. Roseanne Barr, who had just entered the race in the last week, picked up 526 votes, or 29%. There were 35 votes for Kent Mesplay, and 8 votes for Harley Mikkelson

GPW reports that Roseanne Barr is very active on Twitter, and had tweeted a challenge to Bill Maher, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert to have both herself and Jill Stein on their programs.… Read more ...

Green Party to protest proposed water rate hike on steps of Cleveland City Hall this evening

From the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Members of the local Green Party plan to picket outside Cleveland City Hall this evening to protest a proposed rate hike by the city’s Division of Water and to call for the resignation of Public Utilities Director Barry Withers.

The protest, on the front steps of City Hall, is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Green Party candidate in Ohio ‘offers novel ideas, raises Green Party’s profile in county executive race’

CLEVELAND, Ohio — David Ellison helped the Green Party reach a milestone last week by running unopposed in the primary for Cuyahoga County executive.

The architect from Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood gave the political party its first candidate for countywide office after it struggled for years to gain ballot access.

Green Party candidate leads protests against Cuyahoga County, OH official

Green Party candidate for Cuyahoga County Executive David Ellison recently led a protest, also attended by Green candidate for County Council Alan Crossman and a Democratic candidate, calling for the resignation of the county’s auditor.  The auditor, Frank Russo, is currently being investigated by federal officials in a corruption probe.  From the Cleveland Plain Dealer:

We’re adding our names to the people asking for his resignation,” said David Ellison, the Green executive hopeful who assembled about 15 people and his dog for the afternoon demonstration outside the County Administration Building.

Green ‘political unknown’ running in race for newly created Cuyahoga County executive position

David Ellison, a Cleveland architect running for the Green Party, opposed the county charter that created the executive position. Ellison said he thought the executive structure was too hierarchical, but he later decided to run for the job.

“It just seemed like now was the time,” he said.
