Structurally, technologically and culturally speaking, there is no “music industry” any more. There is also no “movie industry” any more. Those two things have been consolidated into a more generic and all encompassing, “entertainment industry.” But that’s not even the kicker. The kicker is that technically, the entertainment industry is now a sub-division of a much larger and more insidious industry known as the “telecommunications industry.”

Grassroots Ron Paul supporters organize “Rock The rEVOLution Tour”

Inspired by Ron Paul’s quote that “I always knew that if you were going to have a revolution you needed two things, young people and music”, some of the libertarian Republican presidential candidate’s supporters have launched a multi-city benefit tour featuring pro-freedom bands, musicians, rappers, and libertarian speakers.

Zak Carter, the main promoter who has been organizing the tour, said at the San Francisco show tonight, the fourth of the tour, that he has plunged into this project with little experience.… Read more ...

Rosa Clemente, hip-hop activist and 2008 Green Party Vice-Presidential candidate, has a new program on WBAI 99.5FM in New York City. WBAI is listener-sponsored, community radio for peace and justice, a Pacifica Radio affiliate.

“Hip-Hop State of Mind” will be broadcast in the NYC metro area (including parts of Connecticut, New Jersey and Long Island) on Saturdays at noon.… Read more ...

White boy goes Hip Hop with Rosa

A self-described “White boy” with rhythm, Green in Brooklyn writes about an appearance by Green Party Veep nominee Rosa Clemente.
