Stein leads unscientific online Green Party presidential poll

greencandidatesAn unscientific online poll on the race for the Green Party presidential nomination shows Jill Stein in the lead with 47.9%, followed by Darryl Cherney 27.9%, William P. Five presidential contenders address Green Party annual conference

Green Party says five may be seeking presidential nomination

greenballotIn a news release, the Green Party said “a growing field of hopefuls” may be seeking the party’s presidential nomination, with retired professor Bill Kreml, party activist Kent Mesplay, and 2012 nominee Jill Stein in the race.

In addition, the GP said, “Earth First! co-founder Darryl Cherney and California party activist KCM Curry have both been testing the waters.”

Mesplay seeking Green Party presidential nomination

mesplay Biomedical engineer Kent Mesplay announced Wednesday evening that he is seeking the Green Party presidential nomination for the fourth consecutive election. Mesplay finished third in the balloting at the 2012 Green convention, where Jill Stein was nominated on the first ballot. Green Party: Support Public Financing over Corporate Cash!

With the deadline for public matching funds fast approaching, the Green Party is making one final push to get their candidates to raise enough money.

The Supreme Court just made another ruling allowing unlimited corporate money into state and local elections. The justices had an opportunity to revisit the awful decision they made in Citizens United, but chose corporate greed over democracy for a second time.

Richard Winger of Ballot Access News reports that there is a Green Party primary debate coming up this weekend in San Francisco:

The Green Party presidential candidates will debate each other in San Francisco on Saturday, May 12. The debate will include Roseanne Barr, Kent Mesplay, and Jill Stein. The location is the Victoria Theater at 2961 16th Street, at the corner of Mission.

Jill Stein Has Secured Nearly 75% of Allocated Delegates to Green Party National Convention

Jill Stein is one of several Green Party presidential candidates vying for the party’s nomination. The nomination is mostly determined by pre-allocated delegates awarded for winning primaries in various states. Jill Stein wins Illinois Green presidential primary, Roseanne Barr and Kent Mesplay also pick up delegates

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein has won the Illinois primary, which was held online and open to all residents of Illinois 13 and older.  From the Green Party of Illinois:

Results are in from the Illinois Green Party’s first ever online primary. With a total of 153 ballots cast, Harvard-educated physician Jill Stein of Massachusetts has won the primary with 71% of the vote.… Read more ...

Update on Candidates for the Green Party Presidential Nomination

Green Party Watch held a presidential poll with the following results:

1,792 votes cast, Jill Stein received 1,223 of them, or 68%. Roseanne Barr, who had just entered the race in the last week, picked up 526 votes, or 29%. There were 35 votes for Kent Mesplay, and 8 votes for Harley Mikkelson

GPW reports that Roseanne Barr is very active on Twitter, and had tweeted a challenge to Bill Maher, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert to have both herself and Jill Stein on their programs.… Read more ...
