NC Libertarians Say Repeal HB 2

Press Release

RALEIGH (April 26) – The Libertarian Party of North Carolina has joined the growing list of organizations calling for the repeal of House Bill 2.

“The state has no authority to determine gender,” the unanimous resolution states. HB 2 also “unduly intrudes state authority into local decision-making and unreasonably limits the ability of the citizens … to govern themselves.”

In addition, the bill reduces individual rights because it “bans citizens from using state courts to remedy discrimination”

Nic Haag, Libertarian candidate for NC Senate 44, introduced the resolution.… Read more ...

When former staffer James Stevens released the secret recording he made of San Antonio Councilwoman Elisa Chan, he felt her “anti-gay” comments would be her undoing. With a September vote upcomingto add gay and transgender people as a protected class in the city’s anti-discrimination ordinance, the resulting silence or absence of Chan would stand as a warning to anyone who dared speak out against the revision.… Read more ...

JoSelle Vanderhooft in Q St Lake (excerpts):

McCullough, a Utah County attorney whose clients have included members of the adult entertainment industry, is a member of one of the country’s fastest growing political parties — and one of the state’s most colorful; its candidates have, at various times, included professional hypnotists, outspoken fans of marijuana and Dell “Superdell” Schanze, the former owner of Totally Awesome Computers (who made a failed bid in 2008 as the Libertarian candidate for governor, and who ran as a Republican this year).

The Advocate: ‘The Audacity to Vote – Green’

Dave Schwab at Green Party Watch:

The chair of the Manhattan Green Party, Daniel W.K. Lee, has written a piece for The Advocate on why gay Americans should consider voting Green:

Now that the midterm election is upon us, the Democratic establishment has employed the fear tactic to get its progressives in line by saying, “If you don’t vote us back in, think of what the alternative will be.” And much like progressive Dems in general, GPDs — most notably the Human Rights Campaign — have resorted to shameless (or is it shameful?) apologies for the party and administration’s shortcomings by asking for more patience because “change takes time” and habitually failing to call out the administration and congressional Democrats’ poor progress on LGBT issues, or they have gotten vocally angry, but with no intention to not vote Democratic.
