Libertarian Party of Kansas Third Quarter 2013 Newsletter Released

The Free Kansan is the official newsletter of the Libertarian Party of Kansas.  It is currently published four times per year, and is available on the LPKS web site in PDF format.

The Free Kansan contains news of Libertarian happenings around the state, opinion pieces by the editor and state party chair, an occasional guest editorial, letters to the editor submitted by LPKS members and others, a list of county group meetings, pictures of LP events, and a calendar of upcoming events.

Libertarian files for Kansas governor’s race

TOPEKA, KAN. — A Bonner Springs woman has become the first Libertarian Party candidate to file for the 2014 Kansas governor’s race, a field the party’s chairman said Wednesday he hopes continues to grow.

Tresa McAlhaney of Bonner Springs, chairwoman of the Wyandotte County Libertarian Party, announced Wednesday that she has filed the necessary paperwork to establish her campaign.

KS: Libertarian and Reform Parties Aim for Major Party Status

With so many citizens fed up with both Democrats and Republicans this year, third-party candidates in Kansas hope protest votes will push them into the big leagues.

Some observers think the Libertarian or Reform parties have a real chance of winning 5 percent of the vote statewide, which would give them major-party status in the state and more access to debates.
