In 2008, (John Monds) ran for Public Service Commission and became the first Libertarian candidate ever to receive 1 million votes in a United States election at any level. Some polls predict he’ll get enough votes to force a runoff between Barnes and Deal in the Governor’s race.

In the race for governor, Republican Nathan Deal leads Democrat Roy Barnes 47 percent to 40 percent, with Libertarian John Monds getting the support of 6 percent. Seven percent are undecided, according to the poll by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc.

John Monds At 9% In New SurveyUSA Poll

From local station 13WMAZ:

A statewide poll conducted for 13WMAZ shows Republican Nathan Deal leading in the race for governor.

In the SurveyUSA poll, Deal had the support of 49 percent of likely voters, Democrat Roy Barnes had 38 percent and Libertarian candidate John Monds had 9 percent. Four percent of voters in the poll said they were undecided…

In the Governor’s race, 54 percent of independents supported Deal, while 34 percent favored Barnes.
