Peter Camejo: Watermelon through and through

On this day 82 years ago, Peter Miguel Camejo was born to Elvia Guanche and Dr. Daniel Camejo Octavio. While hailing from New York, he frequently visited his parent’s home country of Venezuela, competing for them in the 1960 Olympics with his dad. Afterwards he entered the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and later the University of California where begun to get involved with student activism, which inevitably got him expelled for “using an unauthorized microphone.” Read more ...

Ralph Nader, Cindy Sheehan, Matt Gonzalez and several hundred more attend memorial for Peter Camejo

Big-name liberal activists-including Ralph Nader and Cindy Sheehan-celebrated the lifelong activism of late UC Berkeley alumnus Peter Camejo Sunday at the International House.

Camejo, who ran as Nader’s vice president in 2004 and was seen by many to be a major figure of the American left, died of lymphoma, a type of cancer, on Sept.

Public memorial planned for Peter Camejo

The California Chronicle reports:

Berkeley, CA – A public memorial celebrating the life of former gubernatorial, presidential and vice-presidential candidate Peter Camejo will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. at the International House on the University of California at Berkeley campus (2299 Piedmont Ave), according to an announcement by family and friends.

Peter Miguel Camejo has dies. Camejo, former Green Party of California candidate for Governor, former Vice Presidential running mate to Ralph Nader in 2004, and former Presidential nominee of the Socialist Worker’s Party, dies today at his home in Folsom, CA. Harrisburg, Pennsylvania newspaper editorial on eliminating ballot costs for Nader

The July 29 issue of the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania daily newspaper, the Patriot-News, has this editorial. It calls for cancelling the costs that had been levied against Ralph Nader, from his 2004 petition challenge process. Nader has never paid the $81,102.19 that was charged to him, to pay for the costs incurred by the people who challenged his petition.
