Outright Libertarians responds to LPCA Domestic Partnership Initiative endorsement

Noting the federal government’s lack of recognition for civil domestic partnerships, Outright Libertarians has issued a press release highlighting the social consequences, and price tag, of the proposed Domestic Partnership Initiative recently endorsed by the Libertarian Party of California:

“The federal government does not recognize ‘domestic partnerships’ in federal law, through both legal precedent and statutes including the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA),” noted Outright Libertarians’ National Chair, Rob Power.

Via vice-presidential contender Michelle Shinghal’s blog comes an early look at one potential Libertarian cabinet:

Keaton has been quite the busy bee so she’s asked me to announce our cabinet. Obviously we realize that this step is usually taken after winning not only a party nomination but the White House but we feel that you can never be too prepared.

Knapp falls short in judicial committee bid, Allen Hacker elected

Thomas Knapp was defeated in his bid for a seat on the LP’s judicial committee. Those elected were Ruth Bennett, David Nolan, Nick Sarwark, Tom Stevens, Travis Nicks, Joe Cobb, and Allen Hacker. Ruth Bennett was made chair of the committee.

LNC election results

Bill Redpath was re-elected chairman after two rounds of balloting. He led the first round with 183 votes vs. 113 for Ruth Bennett and 70 for Ernie Hancock. Most predicted Hancock supporters would rally behind Ms. Bennett, but that was not the case. Redpath won the second round 204-147.
