New York has released official election returns for the special election of March 31 in the 20th U.S. House district [to fill the seat of now Senator Kirsten Gillibrand]. The only candidates on the ballot were Democrat Scott Murphy and Republican Jim Tedisco.
Republican Jim Tedisco just conceded to Democrat Scott Murphy in the special congressional in upstate New York that first took place on March 31, giving Democrats their first congressional victory of the Obama presidency and giving Republicans a disappointing loss.
Scott Murphy is the candidate for the Democrats. Jim Tedisco is the Republican. The special election to fill the 20th Congressional District seat in New York, vacated when Kirsten Gillibrand was appointed to Senate, is too close to call. On Monday, March 9, 2009, Libertarian Eric Sundwall filed his petitions with the New York State Board of Elections . Sundwall will be on the ballot for Congress, in the 20th District (covering areas in the mid Hudson Valley and the Adirondacks.)
