News from Ed Bortz, Pittsburgh Green for US House

Pennsylvania Green Party candidate for US House in PA’s 14th District Ed Bortz has been very active recently. On September 13th, Bortz spoke out against hydrofracking at a Pittsburgh City Council meeting, which earned him a mention in at least one news outlet.

Ribeiro and Shanfield face off in Illinois’ 9th congressional district

The Green Party primary in Illinois’ ninth congressional district got some coverage from the suburban Chicago Journal & Topics newspaper group.  There is little difference on the issues between Simon Ribeiro and Moe Shanfield, says the article, but Shanfield hopes to push the Democratic Party in a progressive direction, while Ribeiro plans to run a “vigorous campaign” against the incumbent (and unchallenged in her primary) Democrat Jan Schakowsky.… Read more ...

Early voting starts in Illinois primaries (list of contested primaries included)

Illinois’ special Green primary, taking place today, gets some coverage

Today is the day for the Green Party in Chicago – the special primary taking place to fill the fifth district congressional seat vacated by current White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel includes four Green candidates. Five-way Green primary to take place in Illinois; twenty six candidates in total

In Illinois’ fifth congressional district, over two dozen candidates have filed for the March 3rd primary.  The special primary and special election are being held to replace Rahm Emanuel, who will be moving from the House to the White House.  He will become Barack Obama’s Chief of Staff.

The five candidates are Deb Leticia Gordils, Mark Arnold Fredrickson, Alan Augustson (who was previously reported on here), Mathew Reichel, and Simon Ribeiro. … Read more ...
