2016 Socialist Party USA Nominee Mimi Soltysik Dies

As reported at Ballot Access News, the 2016 presidential nominee of Socialist Party USA Emidio “Mimi” Soltysik died earlier today at the age of 45.  He reportedly suffered from liver cancer.

Soltysik was the co-chairman of Socialist Party USA from 2013 to 2015.  He was vice chair from 2011 to 2013. … Read more ...

According to a Twitter post from union leader and Green Party co-founder Howie Hawkins, Hawkins has earned the requisite number of pledged delegates to secure the Green Party’s 2020 presidential nomination.  Through primaries and state conventions, Hawkins has attained 182 bound delegates, which is enough to win the nomination on the first ballot at the 2020 Green National Convention on July 11.… Read more ...

Mike Gravel Turns 90

Former two term Senator Mike Gravel of Alaska turned 90 years old today.  Gravel unsuccessfully sought the Libertarian Party’s 2008 presidential nomination, losing to former Congressman Bob Barr at the National Convention.  Gravel remained with the party until 2010 when he rejoined the Democrats.

Jesse Ventura Officially Declares He Will Not Run for President in 2020

Former Governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura declared he will not run for president in 2020 after “testing the waters” for a run with the Green Party.  He made the announcement Friday during a press conference at the headquarters for the Green Party of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
