Meet the LNC: Caryn Ann Harlos, Region 1 Rep

Start of a series on LNC members being posted on the national party’s facebook page.

Meet the LNC!

Behind the scenes, the Libertarian National Committee (LNC) manages the funds, property and affairs of the Libertarian Party. Comprised of representatives elected at the Libertarian National Convention, these dedicated representatives make important decisions regarding LP business at LNC meetings. In the coming months, we will spotlight LNC representatives, starting with Region 1 Representative, Caryn Ann Harlos:

“I am a somewhat recent transplant to Colorado from Florida who went from political apathy into activism literally after reading the Libertarian Party Platform and Statement of Principles one day and switching my voter registration on the spot.

I am a self-published Christian author and a paralegal holding a certification with the National Association of Legal Assistants with twenty years of experience.

My hobbies include sewing as well as outdoor Colorado activities such as camping and hiking, though Libertarian activism has become my primary focus. In addition to serving the National Party, I am the Communications Director for the Libertarian Party of Colorado and the Colorado State Coordinator for the Libertarian Party Radical Caucus.

I am the elected Region 1 Representative to the Libertarian National Committee. Region 1 comprises Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Hawaii, Montana, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. My absolute favorite part of my duties is working with and assisting affiliates in their concerns and being able to be a voice for member rights and encouraging their greater involvement in the Party.

I can be reached at Caryn.Ann.Harlos@LP.org- and a regional newsletter is published out to anyone who writes me to ask, whether in Region 1 or not. I also welcome phone calls from Party members at 561.523.2250.”

I couldn’t help reply to all the comments by various libertarians. knocking Caryn’s red hair at the LP National Facebook page version of this post. Just in case any were “conservatives” who actually want a more statist party, I shared some observations about Caryn that continue to bother a number of libertarians:

“Don’t worry, conservatives, as a born again Christian Ms. Harlos had her own ministry to women who had “murdered” their babies, just like she murdered two of hers when she foolishly thought women had a right to control their bodies and have abortions. Under her ministry name “Dee Dee Warren” (one of two, don’t get them confused), Harlos started organizing “Pro-life” abortion prohibitionists to flood the party and change the platform. I guess that didn’t work, and suddenly the hair went pink and she started to work with Radical Caucus, using her real name.

She still argued publicly against abortion for reasons of “conscience”. She also argued for deletion of the LP’s abortion plank and certainly argued that the Radical Caucus 2016 platform should not include the right to abortion. (It did not.) She says she’s an anarchist and doesn’t know how anarchists can stop abortion. But she’s evidently fine with bringing in more conservatives who want to out law it and use tax money to prosecute the doctors, women, husbands, and others who do, have or facilitate abortion.

Drop the abortion plank and all the anti LGBT and anti drug people will flood the party. Then will Ms. Harlos hair return to its true color??

PS. I’m quite sure she’s running for Chair in 2018. Groovy… end quote

By the way, thinking back, I didn’t just think that up.

It’s something I heard in passing, where I cannot say. Though it might have been in this 2016 4 part 4 plus hour interview for a Christian conservative podcast. http://www.theopologetics.com/2016/08/29/episode-124-a-christian-dialogue-on-voting-third-party-part-1/#more-1227

Otherwise, maybe someone encouraged her to run for Chair in some post or other somewhere.

I don’t think it was this 2013 interview about her abortions and opposition to abortion when she was still going by Dee Dee Warren and probably wasn’t get involved in the party. http://www.theopologetics.com/2013/03/01/episode-108-forgive-me-lord/

Or maybe it was this 12/16 interview on her being “sex positive” and “using your boobs for liberty.” https://soundcloud.com/kenny-the-wizard/wizardly-wisdom-reality-anxiety-ep-6-caryn-ann-harlos Where she also says “And let’s face it, all of use whatever we got…so I emphasize that a little bit… I’m near 50 years old and I think I look damn good for near 50 years old and I’m going to show it…”

Interesting, news to me Jill and Paulie. I am not, nor have I ever said, or insinuated, or even gave a second’s thought to running for Party Chair.

Someone should have told me of my plans.

Caryn Ann Harlos is also going what I have said for several decades LNC members should do for the LNC: Work. That’s the opposite of having the LNC set goals for the staff, while doing nothing to advance the party toward those goals. That’s very positive, so she should be re-elected to the LNC in some capacity, even if you do not agree with all of her positions.

Hey, doesn’t your theme have a plugin so people can subscribe to a thread without having to post?

Not that I know of. Recommendations welcome.

    Agreed.
