Barr appears on Bloomberg Television

Bob Barr was interviewed by Bloomberg Television on Thursday, in an appearance that was promoted throughout the day and broadcast around 8:30 p.m. Eastern. Barr said of his candidacy, “I am doing this because neither party is going to address the key and fundamental issues facing the American people, such as significantly smaller government, a more rational form of policy, and perhaps most importantly the restoration of civil liberties and the right to privacy that have been trampled by the current administration.”

Regarding the spoiler question, Barr said, “John McCain it will rise or fall on his basis. If he wants to, this early in the race, search for somebody to blame for his anticipated defeat, I suppose I’m a good target. The fact of the matter is, the votes that I anticipate gathering during this campaign, winning on November 4, are not going to be McCain votes. It is highly unlikely somebody really believes in the republican big brand of government as Sen. McCain does is going to all of a sudden switch and vote for Bob Barr.”
