Nader to Nevada: Less gambling; bet on energy instead

KVBC.com says independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader “took aim at big gaming” during a campaign rally in Las Vegas today, “telling a handful of supporters ‘Nevada must stop relying so heavily on the gambling industry.’” To “keep the Nevada economy growing, Nader suggested a shift from gambling to green energy. ‘That is the wave of the future,’ he said.”

In other Nader news, Pennsylvania’s Pottstown Mercury reports Nader’s campaign “apparently succeeded in collecting the 24,666 voters’ signatures that he needed” to qualify for the ballot in the state, so “barring a challenge like the one that knocked him off the Pennsylvania ballot in 2004,” he will be listed there. Meanwhile, the AP reports Nader’s campaign has submitted more than 10,000 signatures in Kansas, which requires the signatures of 5,000 registered voters for ballot access, while the AP additionally reports Nader backer submitted signatures in Maryland, where 10,000 are required and the campaign was planning to “submit up to 20,000.”
