Shane Cory, former Libertarian Party Executive Director and Deputy Campaign Manager for Presidential nominee Bob Barr, has written a call for submissions from Barr supporters for “your concepts or even full commercials” to start the campaign’s media effort. After discussing his fondness for Washington’s 2006 Libertarian Senate nominee Bruce Guthrie’s “Don’t be a Party Puppet” ads (found here and here), Cory provides instructions on submission and closes with a call for donations. The full request can be found here.

Suppose I made a campaign comercial that casts Barr as a radical purist? I wonder what Cory would think of that?
Ironic that the guy who made that ad is a Ron Paul guy . . . and Barr didn’t ask to use his name, or his vids. Seems like he highjacked Bruce’s name.
I think it’s a great idea – there were several ads that the grassroots produced during RPs run that were FAR superior to anything the official campaign produced.
I’m looking forward to seeing the finalists. Too bad we can’t use the Futurama clip with Jack Johnson debating John Jackson: “I think your three-cent titanium tax goes too far!” “Well, I think YOUR three-cent titanium tax doesn’t go far enough!” LOL.
JM
What’s the point? Barr can’t even raise enough money to air a commercial a few times at 4am on a 3rd tier cable news channel.
The only real question is whether or not Barr or McCain will have to “approve this message.”
Mike Gillis said “Though if you could get footage of Ron Paul saying “Why did you do that to me, Bob?â€, you’d be set.”
That would be hilarious. I’m sure someone can piece something together just for a laugh or two.
maybe someone could develop an ad where a bunch of unshowered purists stand around arguing about the finer points of the free market delivery of law & order, with a subtitle saying “don’t worry, we’re trying to get rid of them.”
Though if you could get footage of Ron Paul saying “Why did you do that to me, Bob?”, you’d be set.
Yes.
1. From all of the peaceful drug users he sent to the state’s animal cages as a federal prosecutor: WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO ME, BOB?
2. From the wife he cheated on as she was ill with cancer: WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO ME, BOB?
3. And of course, from the innocent baby he paid to have aborted: WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO ME, BOB?
whatever they end up with, it’s sure to be better than the multi-million dollar “he’s catchin’ on, I’m tellin’ ya” advertising blitz.
ha!
That’s excellent.
I expect they’ll get a lot of “Why would you do that to me Bob?” submissions.
This could turn into a comedy goldmine.
