Less than that. It’s something like 105 or 106k. Some of those people paid dues at one time or another, others never did. Montoni says there are another 25k or so non-dues paying members that got lost from their records in a database swap in the early 2000s, and he thinks most – but not all – of the dead people have been purged from that list.

    Wow. 16%. That’s a keeper.

The document states “MEM = Member Signed Certificate”. What does this mean? What is this certificate?

I understand it to mean the party membership pledge, which states that we oppose the initiation of force or fraud to achieve social or political goals.

“ACTIVE MEM = Current Dues Paying or Lifetime Donor w-Signed Certificate” – how much are the dues? What does it take to be a “lifetime donor”?

I’m pretty sure standard annual dues are still $25. Life membership was $1,000 in the year 2000 when I became one, and I think still is now. A lifetime member does not have to keep paying annual dues.

ACTIVE SUB – so this is for donors who don’t sign a certificate?

I think that’s correct – some people want to join the party, but oppose the pledge for a variety of reasons (for that matter, there is much debate over what the pledge actually means.) There are also various people who wish to subscribe to LP News, such as journalists, political scientists and probably some law enforcement, but don’t wish to sign the membership pledge, which fall in this category.

Finally, is there a non-dues paying membership category?

Yes. There are over 100,000 party members who have signed the pledge, and only about 16,000 who are current on their dues.

This is very interesting. I have a few questions:
