Connecticut State Police Watched for Green Party Protesters in October 2006 Gubernatorial Debate
June 13th, 2009
On October 18, 2006, Connecticut TV station WVIT, channel 30, was hosting a gubernatorial debate at which only the Democratic and Republican nominees were invited. The Connecticut State Police Central Criminal Intelligence Unit sent officers to that debate, because the police believed that Greens might show up to protest the exclusion of their gubernatorial candidate. These police officers were separate from the normal police unit that provides security for the Governor, and of course they were also in addition to any city police. As it turns out, no Greens protested at that debate. This information has surfaced because of a somewhat related lawsuit filed by the campaign manager for the Green Party’s gubernatorial campaign that year.

Yes it was Sir. That was just one that we found. The total of chosen votes was only 3% of all cast.
Even then we found problems all over.

Wasn’t it one of the districts in Ohio in that election where there were 600-some registered voters and the voting machines from the district tallied about 4,500 votes for President Bush? Now THAT’S getting out the vote!!

Could not agree more about the comparisons between the stolen election in Mexico 2006 and the US in 200, 2004.
However, ironic that Iran seems to have had a more open and transparent election process.
Amadinajad is not Iran’s Bush. he was actually elected. The corporate media seems willing to try and paint the Iran elections as being corrupt but the fact is, they were not.
Remember folk, this has a familiar ring to it.
A country has “WMD’s” and the corporate media is starting to demonize it. Including that “liberal” bastion the Noow Yawk Times. The real comparison that we should be making is Iraq and Iran.

It really burns me up. The Democrats and Republicans not only steal and rig elections, crack down on real opposition and real debate, and sell public policy to the highest bidder. They also screw with elections in other countries and depose democratically elected leaders (remember Iran 1954?) . Then the very same people who stacked the elections in 2000 and 2004 have the gall to denounce foreign elections as fraudulent (only when they don’t like the results, of course… not a peep about the stolen vote in Mexico 2006).
Ahmadinejad is Iran’s Bush. The parallels couldn’t be clearer.

I still have the paperwork, making me an official Observer, for Cobb and Badnarik.
That was a life changing experience for me.
I believe Mike Badnarik and the GP candidate were arrested together protesting some debate they were excluded from .
I remember when I was the Green Party candidate for US Senate in Minnesota 2006.
I was physically ejected from the debates being put on by the local Minnesota ABC affiliate, KSTP. same thing happened to Aaron Brown in Oregon and another Green Senate candidate that year.
Wow, what a great democracy we all have, eh?

It was in Connecticut back in 1996 when there was a massive protest for Perot when he was excluded from the debates.
It was a frightening story if I hear it again. Apparently the police surrounded them and broke it up pretty menacingly.
The press pretty much didn’t pick it up.
