Performance artist and activist Reverend Billy Talen is running for Mayor of New York City on the Green Party line. His campaign is in the middle of the petition drive.
On Monday, July 27th at 7pm at the Highline Ballroom in New York City, musicians including Joan Baez will perform at the “ELECT-A-LLUJAH Benefit Concert” for Reverend Billy’s campaign.

Also performing will be: Rev Billy and the Life After Shopping Gospel Choir; Jollyship the Whiz-Bang; Greta Gaines; the New York Street Vendors Chorus; and Yetta Kurland. There will also be appearances by other New York City Green Party candidates.
As noted at Wikipedia, Joan Baez is a folk singer, songwriter, and native New Yorker (born in Staten Island). Baez performed at Woodstock, and in the 1960’s she introduced her audiences to the then-unknown Bob Dylan.
